Dash
Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBAMany trying to lure Denver into talks with all the talented, versatile assets Masai Ujiri has gathered, but Nuggets unlikely to make deal. Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBAStill many involved for Atlanta's Josh Smith, including Bucks, Nets, Celtics, 76ers, Wizards, others, sources say. Strong belief he's moved. Glad to see Houston isn't among the teams interested since we can just sign him outright in the offseason. What sort of pieces do you think Smith can get Atlanta with him being an expiring contract and previously been suspended by the team? Of the teams mentioned (Milwaukee, Brooklyn, Boston, Philly, Washington and possibly Denver) which do you think has the best chance of landing Smith? Owner Real Deal Posted February 18, 2013 Owner Report Share Posted February 18, 2013 These questions are always difficult for me to answer, with a player in this situation, because... 1) He thinks he deserves the max...and he said so.2) The team he's playing for right now declined his extension.3) He's a small, hybrid PF.4) He is having issues with his attitude, and was previously suspended for it.5) He won't necessarily re-sign with that team once he's traded (if it's at the deadline). So, if you have these five things...you're basically looking at a DeMarcus Cousins issue (something similar) if he were a free agent, and it's so hard to pinpoint which franchise feels that they need him AND that can get away with paying him less than max (because any team giving him max is a team that doesn't deserve extra cash for another player, simply put). Washington is interesting, only because I'd love to see how Wall and Smith would work. Just out of curiosity, of course. However, does Smith sign with ANY of these guys if they decline the big money contract? Probably only if they were a big market + had someone like Dwight (who is Josh's friend), but the Lakers won't have a shot at him unless Atlanta takes Gasol. Smitty
Kinda don't want Philly trading for what would be like a 2 month rental. That, and he makes Iguodala look like Ray Allen with his shooting.
Guru
I would love this '2 month rental' for the Nets.
Dash
Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBAMilwaukee, Phoenix emerging as frontrunners for Josh Smith deal, league sources tell Y! Sports. Boston still a "darkhorse," one source says.
Dash
Bucks appear to be the only team left standing. Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBAAtlanta and Milwaukee still seriously engaged on Josh Smith, league sources tell Y! Sports.
Lkr
Since the hawks seem like they are adamant in not resigning him, you'd think they'd just take a deal
Dash
There were about 6 takers this morning and one by one they dropped out of the race. Atlanta was completely delusional about Smith's trade value and in one leaked rumor wanted Asik + Parsons from Houston. They did have a deal with Milwaukee but pulled out a minute before the deadline. No idea what Ferry is thinking.
Owner Real Deal Posted February 21, 2013 Owner Report Share Posted February 21, 2013 This decision to keep him was ignorant, sorry. I understand the value of cap space, but they are already sitting well in that regard next season, I believe. They aren't going to get a damn thing for Smith now...he's definitely walking.
