Best Backcourt?

Kobe and Nash, but they aren't as good as they should be together...mainly because Nash isn't being as aggressive as he should be (role of a shooter).

I basically took the best one-on-one player on the list (Kobe) and the best shooter (Nash, he's a 50/40/90 guy and arguably the greatest shooter of all-time).

Lin has had the bigger games this season (over Nash), but Harden carries the Rockets a lot more than he should have to, with a PG like Lin on the team.  With Nash, you realize he's having to adjust big time, and he's also 39 years old...but after "Linsanity" hit New York, you had to expect a little more out of him when he came to Houston (not that all of us did, but the bar was raised).

The best way to explain my choice, though, aside from the best one-on-one player and best shooter, would be to simply say that, if I took one duo into the playoffs, for one playoff run...it would be Kobe and Nash, trying to put all bias aside.

Didn't Lin have to make a huge adjustment himself? The Lin and Harden backcourt early on just wasn't clicking at all, Lin needed the ball in his hands and was turned into an inefficient spot-up shooter with Harden mostly dominating the basketball. He was downright awful to watch when Kelvin Sampson was filling in as head coach. Not the case since McHale's return, Lin has improved his shooting immensely (47% from the field and behind the arc in his last 11 games, not counting the poor game tonight because he was obviously sick) and has learned how to be effective next to Harden.. I honestly I wouldn't call him a disappointment at all, his transformation as a defensive player and recently as a shooter have both been pleasant surprises and make him a better all-around player this year.

Harden and Kobe is debatable if you ask me. After Lebron, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul and Tony Parker I don't see any player having without a doubt a better season than Harden. The homer in me wants to pick Harden for putting up insane efficiency numbers (60.2 TS%) while at the same time leading a team without a true #2 or even a #3 (unless Lin is going off, which has been inconsistent and he was a nonfactor early on) to a playoff spot in the West while the other has his team on the outside looking in.

Not the best backcourt just yet but give it another year and Harden - Lin will be especially if both continue to progress their individual games this quickly. If Lin could be a more consistent shooter like he has been this month and Harden works on his defensive game over the offseason (because its nonexistent) then its their title to lose.

Kobe and Harden debatable?  Nah man, even if I hated Kobe Bryant, I can't agree with that.  I can say that Harden is the second-best two-guard in the NBA, and that Harden and Wade are debatable, but it would be very hard for me to say he's the top SG.

Kobe may be the best player on the Lakers, but this isn't the offense he wanted, and not the coach he expected OR the big man or PG he thought would show up.  I try to take it easy on Nash, though, because he was injured for FAR too long, up there in age, and changing his game (as mentioned), and Dwight for coming off a major surgery...but I can't fault Kobe at all for this season's performance.  Even when he was shooting over 50% for the season, playing the best defense he has played in his career (statistically), and leading the league in scoring...the Lakers were still losing and out of the playoffs.

But again, I can't take Harden over Kobe, even if I tried to make a case for him.  As much as I WANT to take Durant over LeBron at SF (Durant is my second favorite player, Thunder second-favorite team, and I HATE James)...I still have to set bias aside and say LeBron is the best player in the league (ugh).  The day it happens, though, because it eventually will...I'll give the nod to Harden over KB.

The reasons I didn't put backcourts like of the clippers and spurs up because they have been hurt and with the spurs backcourt Manu comes of the bench at times also. Not to mention the fact that Manu has lost a big [expletive]ing step this year.

And yes obviously Parker >>>> Lillard and Kobe>> Harden but thats not what I'm trying to argue. I know it really wasn't mentioned above (figured it would be commonly understood) but I was saying in terms of playing together/packaged together who would you take. There is no way I would take Parker/Manu over Lin/Harden at this point.

I mean, right now, with how the Rockets have been playing in a tough Western Conf., and how their individual games have evolved since early in the season, I don't see how it's not Lin and Harden. Are those the two guards I'd choose in a draft? No. But, they are playing the best right now. James Harden might be MIP, and Lin is in his first full-season as a starter. Pretty damn impressive right now.

Wes>Manu

 I really don't see how Manu has lost a "huge step". Before his injury he was actually playing very well. He's just now rounding back into form.

Wes Matthews is also not the better player. Manu leads in all statistical categories except PPG and 3p fg% all while playing 11 less minutes per game. Matthews 15 PPGto Manus 12.4, and Wes' 39 3P% to manu's 373p%

Manu doesn't start but he finishes games with Parker, and that is what matters. That tandem is at least better than half of the back court duos you listed.
