AJFromTheDMV
Is he the real deal, or another overhyped Calipari player not ready for the prime time?
Owner Real Deal Posted March 4, 2013 Owner Report Share Posted March 4, 2013 He was brought in to be a monster defensive anchor that can give you a good 15/10 with high-percentage buckets, and so far, he's not doing that bad. It's unfortunate that some of these guys have to play on horrible teams, especially a dysfunctional team like the Hornets (who have no idea what they want to do with Gordon, and probably question why Austin Rivers is even in the NBA). Davis isn't that bad of a defensive anchor, but that team, as a whole, doesn't defend anyone. He won't be a bust.
Built Ford Tough
Injuries have held him back as well. It seems like everytime he strings together a good stretch of games he ends up suffering some sort of minor, lingering injury that doesn't keep him out of the lineup for more than a game or two, but limits his effectiveness. Will he live up to the "next Kevin Garnett" hype that some people were throwing around? No, but that was never fair in the first place. I haven't see anything from him so far that suggests to me he won't be one of the better power forwards in the game for the forseeable future, though.
