Sħãlïq™
Do you believe Kobe's ankle injury was a result of Dahntay Jonesintentionally positioning himself where Bryant would land on his foot?

Makaveli
Not only did Jones get away with being under Kobe while he was shooting, it almost seemed like he looked down on where Kobe's foot was going to land while contesting the shot. http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/2316559/kobehurt3_medium.gif
Owner Real Deal Posted March 14, 2013 Owner Report Share Posted March 14, 2013 Intentional or not, as a defensive player, you know not to do that. It's one thing coaches tell you (or should tell you) to try and avoid, because it's simply dangerous.
JYD
Intentional or not, as a defensive player, you know not to do that. It's one thing coaches tell you (or should tell you) to try and avoid, because it's simply dangerous.Yeah, I don't think he had the intent of getting Kobe to sprain his ankle, just simply make the landing awkward enough that Kobe wouldn't make the shot. Idk, if he intentionally tried to injure him ... I think that's kind of unfair to say...but was it somewhat of a bush league play? Yeah. I can see both sides of it. If someone did this to Melo, say, Jeff Green of Boston, I'd probably be livid. But at the same time, I can understand where Jones is coming from....he's trying to win the game and make it the most difficult shot as possible. bigdog17k
unfortunate, but not intentional imo. stupid shit like this happens to other players, but the world watches kobe, so naturally this is going to be talked about. hope kobe can recover, he is that team this year. Sħãlïq™
Dahntay Jones Responds To Kobe"I didn't try to intentionally come up under him," Jones said. "I was trying to play as hard as I could, to compete at a high level, to try to to help my team win and try to contest the jump shot. I didn't want to give up on the play. I take pride in how hard I compete and not give up on plays, and that's all I was trying to do. It would be very hard for me in a nine-second span to be able to play defense and gauge where I could get my foot up under his as I'm looking at the ball and trying to contest the jump shot." http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/9052700/dahntay-jones-claims-attempt-injure-kobe-bryant ^ "Very hard"? C'mon now! That's some pure crap right there!! Jones straight Jalen Rose'd him.@kobebryant: "17yrs. Countless fades. This has happened TWICE. Jalen and Now Ankle still very swollen. Treatment all day." http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/2319433/kobe_medium.jpg http://t.co/yyDMRWEGd3 http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/2318711/swollen_medium.jpeg #cleanupthegame Edited March 15, 2013 by Sħãlïq™
Guru
Was he trying to intentionally hurt Kobe? Probably not.Is running under a shooters legs considered a dirty play? I think so.Is he to blame? Yes.
Lemon
Topic and thread are two different questions. Obviously he's to blame I think it was intentional.
Sħãlïq™
'Bruce Lee' Bowen has spoken: As a former nemesis of Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, and many others, Bruce Bowen was long one of the NBA’s nastiest defenders. Years afterretirement, his most dangerous plays still .And even Bowen thought Dahntay Jones crossed a line, endangering Bryant, on the decisive play of the Lakers’ key road loss to the Hawks on Wednesday night."Replay shows he kind of walked up under him a little bit there," said Bowen on ESPN. "You're wondering why is he continuing to walk toward Kobe at that particular moment." http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/55806/in-the-nba-dirty-play-wins
