Phightins
I have a feeling Mr. Gill may have a quote or 2 appear on the big screen before game 1. MONTREAL -- Hal Gill clearly isn't a believer in the old playoff adage of not providing bulletin board material for the opposition. The towering Canadiens defenceman had plenty to say Saturday just before boarding a flight headed for Philadelphia for the start of the Eastern Conference final against the Flyers on Sunday. "It's easy to hate the Flyers," said Gill, a former Pittsburgh Penguin who lived through the intense cross-state rivalry in the playoffs the last two seasons. "They've been the Broad Street Bullies, their fans are loud and obnoxious. "If you're from Philly that's great, if you're not you hate them. It's fun to hate the Flyers, just like it's fun for them to hate our fans and our team. It should be a good series as far as hate goes." http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2010/05/15/habs-flyers-0/ Edited May 15, 2010 by Phightins

WOOOOOOOOOO just got back from boston, only got a few death threats (boston fans are worse then philly btw, i dont know what the hell ecn is thinking). but that was by far the best game i have ever been to or seen. amazing (the game, not boston fans)
Phightins
Ian Laperriere skated this morning. Said he feels good but he won't be cleared to play until he has another MRI next week. I hope he doesn't come back unless he is 110% sure that he is fine. One more shot to the head and it could kill him.

fly3rs18
Too bad you and your friends probably opened your mouths too wide, and were fortunate enough that no one was stupid enough to hit you guys. actually no, you are COMPLETELY wrong. we arent retarded, we said nothing besides cheering some when they scored. NOT A SINGLE WORD because we know what can happen in any city if you do and i have no idea what you are thinking, but boston fans are absolutely worse then philly fans. after the game it was me and two friends wearing flyers jerseys. we said ABSOLUTELY nothing and as we were walking down the stairs a couple big old guys came up to us and said to stop texting and stop smiling or they would knock each of us out. not only did they say this once, but they followed us the entire way down the stairs repeating it. as we were walking out of the stadium (after getting away from those dumbasses), multiple people said to get the hell out of the stadium before we got killed/beat up. it didnt get worse then that because we didnt say anything or do anything back to these people. this was multiple people on multiple separate occasions. and my friends and I are not the biggest people in the world, we did not plan on fighting anyone so we did not say a single word the entire way out and still all of this happened to us. i was also at game 1 in philly tonight and i paid attention to how montreal fans were treated. I would say that philly fans probably yell more from a distance, but it all things like "go back to canada" and "you suck", not death threats like boston. i dont understand why you always rip of philly fans when boston fans are easily worse, makes no sense to me

But in fairness, I can't imagine Flyers fans would have been too happy if they were the ones who blew a 3-0 series lead, and a 3-0 lead in game 7 at home. But I agree, every passionate sports city has nut jobs.

Funny thing is he also was insulted for being French Canadian by Flyers fans wearing French Canadian jerseys lol. Some people are SO dumb. Also, IFFFFF people were "threatening" you, it probably wasn't serious, even though it could have been, but the Bruins just blew a 3-0 series lead with a 3-0 lead in Game 7. Also, what else are you going to say to Montreal Canadiens fans. Anyways, this is one of the match-ups I did not want to see because I don't like either team, although at the beginning of the season I had the Flyers are one of my two favorites coming out of the East, with the Penguins being the other. I think Montreal is in BIG trouble, but I think that either of these teams CAN win the Stanley Cup.

Phightins
ECN is right that Philadelphia fans get trashed because of this long-standing reputation. But yes, anybody who has been to games in multiple cities knows that it's no different in New York, Boston, Chicago, and in the case of the NHL, Montreal (probably missing a handful). Also (and this is just a random observation, has nothing to do with anything that happened at the game last night and is not condoning the behavior of any Flyers fans), Canadiens fans BY FAR start more [expletive] than any other visiting fans I have seen at Flyers games. Isn't even close.

Universe
Only people from Philly talk so much about their reputation and you know why, because it's true. With that being said, their are idiots everywhere. People need to STOP talking about it because what's the point? A Flyers fan could kill 200 Montreal fans so does that make Flyers fan base killers? No.

No. I don't know about the first part of your statement. Every time an incident comes up here (like the 2 we've had already at Phillies games this year), ESPN starts trashing Philadelphia, and those of us fans who are sick of that reputation start defending it. I agree with you from the 2nd sentence on. Really, every city has idiots, and in cities that are passionate about sports, stupid, unnecessary [expletive] will happen at games. But anywho, I digress. About Jeff Carter....I would not bring him back as long as the team keeps winning. If Montreal takes the lead in the series, I'd bring him back. Otherwise, hold off until the finals. No reason to A) [expletive] with the team chemistry, or B) put him out there at 60 or 70%. Wait til he's fully healthy. Only reason to rush him back is if they lose a couple games in a row.
