Phightins
This is so [expletive]ing frustrating. I feel bad for John Stevens since clearly this team's problems go far beyond the coach. I just don't know what the next move is, or what to do when they "hit the panic button" (which is likely on the verge of happening). There is way too much talent (and young talent, at that) on this team for them to be playing this poorly. The top two lines have basically disappeared over the past month with the exception of Tuesday's game vs. the Islanders. Brian Boucher and Ray Emery (well, when playing healthy) have been great. Flyers teams of the past decade would have killed for goaltending this good, and now they just can't score any goals. I never thought I'd say it but the Flyers have been boring the hell out of me. Even at their worst, they are usually at least mildly entertaining, but their brand of hockey this year is just flat out horrible, it's like watching paint dry. Where the hell have all our forwards gone? Also, Chris Pronger has been a major disappointment, at least in my book. Very slow and very indecisive. Braydon Coburn has been horrible all year. Sorry for the rant, but it is almost time to hit the proverbial panic button.

Phightins
the only reason why they are losing is because you are going to games. I was thinking that too, but they are not winning the games I don't go to either. But with that said, I am on a 9 game losing streak with the Flyers and Sixers. I have been getting hate messages on facebook.
Phightins
Wonder when the Flyers will actually catch a break.
Phightins
This is a joke. I understand that everybody goes through losing streaks, but there is way way way way way too much talent on this team for them to be losing 10 of 12 (with the only 2 wins in that span being against the [expletive]ing New York Islanders). I gave up trying to figure out what is wrong. Well I know one thing that wasn't wrong (the coach). But he was the scapegoat, and the team continues to lose and lose. Universe
Flyers interested in Halak. Whose on the block in Philly?
Phightins
Flyers interested in Halak. Whose on the block in Philly? I heard Holmgren was interested until the Canadiens told him they wanted a top-6 forward in return, at which point Homer hung up the phone. They just signed John Grahame yesterday so I think they will try to hold down the fort with what they have until Emery comes back. Goaltending is the least of their problems anyway. But you never know. Flyers are in the middle of a brutal 3-game stretch right now (New Jersey, Boston, and Pittsburgh). They already lost to NJ and there is a lot of speculation that should they lose the next 2 there will be a major trade before that "trade freeze" thing at the end of December. Not sure what that means, but there's a lot of talk about that around here. Edited December 13, 2009 by Phightins
Universe
Trade freeze is just between Christmas just so the players don't have to pack up during the holidays I believe. Would the Flyers trade maybe one of the top six since they are locked in for a couple more years or are they all playing well? I know that the deal for a top six forward isn't just for Halak as we need to drop a top six defensemen for Markov and the Kostitsyns are on thin ice as well. EastCoastNiner
Would you guys trade Jeff Carter for Tim Thomas? I know that he won't be traded, but just a hypothetical question......

Well, it would come down to Carter, JVR, and Giroux I think (especially van Riemsdyk and Giroux). Richards has like 9 years left on a 12-year contract, and nobody wants to touch the contracts of Hartnell or Briere. I could see Carter being moved if Holmgren wants a major shake up, but I'd certainly hope he gets a hell of a haul for him. I see no way JVR or Giroux gets moved but I could be wrong. And ECN, I would not. I'd trade Hartnell for Thomas though . Edited December 13, 2009 by Phightins
Universe
Well Danny Briere is French so Montreal will take him. But in all honesty, Habs took Gomez contract and many thought that was unmovable. So if the deal is a large contract plus talent for Halak and more then they'll do it but don't think they'll throw a restricted FA to someone in the conference. Can't wait for some deals though! If Carter (or even Briere) goes Homer sure as hell better make it worth it. And I don't know why he wouldn't, his job is on the line now so he really better have something special up his sleeve. Phightins
The Flyers beat a very good team on the road, the Sixers win by 16 points, and the Phillies are on the verge of trading for the pitcher of the decade. What is the world coming to?
EastCoastNiner
I didn't see the 3rd period, but that should have been a goal in the 1st Period without ANY doubt. That was bull-[expletive].
Phightins
I am not going to say I feel sorry for you, since the Flyers have been going through that for the past month. It is about time we catch a damn break. Also, I listened to the game on the radio so I have no comment about that play. Phightins
thats the penguins for ya I swear they must have magnets on their sticks or something. Seriously EVERY rebound around the net is going right to one of their sticks. I actually don't think the Flyers are playing that bad, they are just getting none of the bounces.
