Phightins
Pathetic road trip. 3 teams with all kinds of problems, seemed like a gift for the Flyers since they need points so bad. To only get 2 points out of this road trip is just horrible. This offense is so painfully inconsistent.
Phightins
I do not understand how this team can play so well against arguably the best team in the East, yet get owned by the Oilers and Wild. Oh well, that's the beauty of the NHL I guess. Now the interesting question is if Carter gets suspended.
Phightins
Word is that Jeff Carter will be named to Canada's olympic team if Ryan Getzlaf can't play. Pretty weird to think that Jeff Carter and Mike Richards could theoretically be linemates....on the 4th line. Obviously losing Getzlaf will suck for them but that roster is loaded. Also Paul Holmgren has scheduled a press conference for later today to "discuss Ray Emery's hip injury". Emery was supposed to skate this morning and didn't. Put two and two together and it does not look good. [expletive].
Phightins
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman had two special visitors yesterday in New York. That's because the Flyers, on behalf of Comcast-Spectacor, sent Rocky Balboa and Ben Franklin impersonators to league headquarters to hand out soft pretzels and officially throw Philadelphia's hat in the ring to host the 2012 or 2013 All-Star Game and entry draft. The rest of the NHL's event applications arrived in FedEx boxes. "We are excited about the possibilities of potentially hosting the NHL draft and the NHL All-Star Game," Comcast-Spectacor president Peter Luukko said. "While it's still early in the process, we've expressed our interest to the league by submitting a proposal. We know this would be great for our fans and great for the city of Philadelphia." The Flyers last hosted the All-Star Game at the Spectrum in 1992 and also welcomed the league's best players in 1976. The NHL draft never has been held in Philadelphia. No All-Star Game will be played this season due to the NHL's work stoppage for the Olympics. The NHL announced in December that this year's draft will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Montreal hosted the All-Star Game and the draft last season. A source close to the situation said up to 16 teams have applied for the All-Star Game and draft. An announcement could come as soon as the end of the Olympic break. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/20100209_Flyers_throw_Philly_s_hat_in_ring_for_All-Star_Game.html That would be so so sick. Phightins
^lmao but two huge wins for the flyers against the devils What was "lmao" worthy? Also, yes, huge win. The Flyers had not overcome a 2-goal deficit against the Devils in 5 years, and they just did it twice in 3 days. On another note, I have said it before, but I love the van Riemsdyk-Giroux-Asham line.

Phightins
The Flyers signed Blair Betts to a 2-year extension today. Also, I heard the Wachovia Center will be changing its name to the Wells Fargo Center in July. I guess that is a Sixers-related note as well. Phightins
Sucks that they are finally playing really well, and now they have to take 3 weeks off. Hopefully they can pick right up where they left off after the break. Honestly I thought these last 4 games would have been a disaster. I thought they'd be lucky to get 3 or 4 points. To win all 4 games is pretty exciting.
Phightins
Not trying to stir the pot or anything, but... http://www.habsinsideout.com/boone/29193 Really? Comparing the Flyers to Nazi's? I don't know who this guy is but apparently he is a legit columnist for the Canadiens, FYI. This is from last night. Phightins
Getzlaf is playing for team Canada, so Carter got screwed. They made him fly all the way out to Vancouver and got his hopes up, and today they were basically like "yeah you can go home we don't need you". I am happy since it means he will get a 3 week break, but still a pretty [expletive]ty deal for him.
BasX
It sucks he won't represent Canada, but the 3 week break is huge. Plus, when he saw Getzlaf's game last night, the decision probably wasn't too much of a surprise, though it always sucks being the last guy to not make it. I don't know who this guy is but apparently he is a legit columnist for the Canadiens, FYI. This is from last night. He isn't calling the Flyers Nazi's, he's saying he hates them as much as the world hated the Nazi's walking into the Olympics. He's actually an amazing writer and is the face of english journalism in Montreal. I get my friends in Montreal to collect his work from the paper that I can't read it online and bring it here. You'd hear MUCH worse from a french journalist in Montreal. One recently said that our new GM looks like he just came out of a gas chamber from the war, lol. Phightins
Interesting... Looks like a trade will be happening today. Flyers put Ray Emery on IR and waived Riley Cote. Apparently Holmgren told Cote he'd only waive him if he had to clear cap space for a trade, so there we have it. Not sure who it might be, but there is speculation it might be Dan Hamhuis.
Phightins
Ok...after waiving Cote and putting Emery on IR the Flyers are now just about $2 million under the cap. So I think if they want to make a trade of importance, they are still going to need to lose some salary. Not really sure what that could possibly be, without completely [expletive]ing with the core of the team.

Phightins
we are lucky leighton came around. i would not be happy if boucher had to start every game I really didn't think Boucher was bad at all when he was "the guy". He just happened to be in there when the rest of the team was complete and utter garbage, hence why his record is so bad. Just sort of rotten luck for Boucher that Leighton stepped in when he was hurt and was lights out.
