Phightins
boucher isnt bad, but i dont think he is a starting NHL goalie either. id much rather have leighton then him long term Well, up until the last month or so, Leighton hasn't really been regarded as anything up a fringe NHL goaltender, and the pessimist in me is still waiting for the shoe to drop with him and for him to start playing like the career-AHL guy he has always been. Obviously with Ray Emery likely done for the season, I pray this doesn't happen. Also, apparently the Predators asked for Ryan Parent AND Braydon Coburn for Dan Hamhuis. Easy to see why the Flyers turned that down. I'd be fine with trading one of the two (preferably Coburn) and a draft pick but both is crazy for a guy who is good but will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. Some of the Flyers writers I follow on Twitter still seem to think a trade might happen before tonight's game.

Phightins
Fylers close to a deal it says. This has been the word for the last 48 hours but it appears to be BS. If they make a trade I doubt it will happen tonight. The two main rumors they have been involved in the past day or so (Dan Hamhuis and Dwayne Roloson) have both been shot down. Hamhuis still might happen if Nashville lowers their ridiculous price, but Paul Holmgren just flat out said "we will not be trading for Dwayne Roloson". Nor should they, they are better off with Michael Leighton and Brian Boucher IMO.
Universe
If you could get Roloson for a late draft pick though that would be a steal. I think he has a two year deal so maybe not even worth that.

I think he has a two year deal so maybe not even worth that. For that cap hit, I'll pass. Well, it isn't much actually (I think 2-ish mil), but with the Flyers as tight against the cap as they are that could go to far better use. The size of the upgrade from Leighton to Roloson (if there is one at all) is not enough to justify that.

Phightins
Apparently the Panthers want Jeff Carter for Tomas Vokoun... Yeah...about that...
Universe
Why would Flyers want Vokoun out of all the goalies? Must REALLY be gunning for a ring this year.
Phightins
Why would Flyers want Vokoun out of all the goalies? Must REALLY be gunning for a ring this year. I don't think they really want/need a goalie, but it couldn't hurt to ask. I just found it humorous that the Panthers would have the balls to ask for Carter. From what I'm reading, their main target is still Dan Hamhuis and they have Garnet Exelby as a possible fall-back plan (so lets hope they get Hamhuis lol). Phightins
Apparently the Flyers are talking about Tomas Kaberle. That would be incredible, I just don't see where the cap space/draft picks/prospects are going to come from.
Phightins
Some fans are so dumb... Yesterday when it was announced that Emery is done for the season, on the Facebook fan page, 99.9% of the comments were "it's okay, Emery blows. Thank god he is hurt. Michael Leighton, now there is a real goaltender. He has been incredible and I trust him to lead this team to the playoffs blah blah blah". So today, the trade deadline comes and goes and nothing happens, thus confirming the front office's commitment to Leighton, and tonight in the first game since that, Leighton gets absolutely rocked and those same idiot fans are bashing Holmgren for not trading for a "real" goaltender. Give me a break. Ville Leino has been the lone bright spot tonight, in his Flyers debut. Also Jeff Carter extended his goal-scoring streak to 6 consecutive games. Phightins
Best win of the season. Arguably best regular season win of the past few seasons, at least that I can remember. What a game.
Phightins
Riley Cote and Arron Asham are both in the lineup for this afternoon's game with the Rangers. Should get interesting.
Phightins
I hate Sean Avery, but his bull[expletive] paid off pretty big for the Rangers today.
Phightins
Well this game is off to a great start....down 3-1 halfway through the first period and Michael Leighton pulled out of the game with some sort of leg/knee injury (Brian Boucher gives up a weak goal on the first shot he faces). Also...the Predators goal chant: "He shoots. He scores. You suck". Really?
Phightins
This is fantastic. Check out the Flyers goalie depth chart from just a few weeks ago. 1. Ray Emery (done for season)2. Michael Leighton (hurt tonight..high ankle sprain)3. Brian Boucher (appears to be the #1 for the time being)4. Johan Backlund (currently in the AHL, injured in practice today)5. John Grahame (was Backlund's backup in the AHL but was claimed by the Colorado Avalanche)6 and on....????? So yeah, if Leighton is out for a while this team is [expletive]ed. There's some speculation that they might call up Nic Riopel (5th round draft pick last year) on one of those short term emergency deals. Phightins
Michael Leighton has a 'severe' high ankle sprain and will be out 8-10 weeks, according to Paul Holmgren. From Frank Seravalli's Twitter.
