Im not gonna beileve something until rockets staff say it or until the season begins.

We still have months until pre-season.

Agreed, there is still a lot of time left and we still have yet to hear anything from Morey or Les.

Not so fast kingfish, if they can just get in the playoffs with a 5 or 6 seed they'll make some noise with him back if he's healed. You saw what they did with LA in the postseason without Yao.

The Lakers just suck [expletive] against a team playing small ball. How many teams in the NBA have that weakness though? They might make the playoffs as a 7 or 8 seed if lucky.

Rockets Doctor Confirms Foot Injury Could End Yao Ming's Career

The bad gets worse. Rockets team doctor Tom Clanton confirmed to the Houston Chronicle's Jonathan Feigen that Yao Ming's broken foot is so serious it could end the center's career. Earlier Monday, Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that outside general managers had gotten the sense in dealings with Houston's Daryl Morey that Yao's injury is much worse than anyone had thought, to the point the Rockets could be without their talisman for the entire 2009-10 season.

But the coda from Clanton -- marking this fracture as the most serious injury in Yao's accursed reign -- bodes more doom than one more lost season. As you well know, the Rockets without Yao is like a jazz quartet without the bass or piano. He's not just the face of the franchise. He's the spine, the legs and the arms, too.

Further evaluation of the injury is on its way, with multiple specialists involved. That's the news to pay attention to going forward. But what will also be interesting to watch will be an assessment of what went wrong. Clanton tells Feigen that Yao's fracture (on the tarsal navicular bone in the center's left foot) has gotten worse since it was immobilized by the franchise medical staff after the injury. Yao isn't feeling pain, but the fracture has grown. In other words, the plan was to let the bone heal itself by immobilizing it. Instead, the fracture deepened.

If it's confirmed he will miss most of next season and if I was the Rockets owner, I'd rebuild the Rockets, no doubt. It's too unfair for the Rockets fanbase, too unfair for myself as the owner to count on franchise players who are injury prone. Trade them, rebuild from scratch. Of course, with the idea to rebuild quickly back to contending again. Have a franchise player you can count on for a full season.

I feel bad for Yao. He is one of my favourite players. He plays hard and through injuries. I remember during the 2008 olympics, when China was down by like 40, he was playing hard and encouraging his teammate while he was on the bench regardless. He is a great player, and represented China well. Hope he fights through these injuries.
