The Artesticle
The Nuggets killed them both previous matchups....I was expecting the Lakers to come our with some intensity and determination to beat this team down and send a message. Intead they come out and are down 13 during the 3rd at one point. You can say they're the defending champs, but still I was expecting them to blow this team out and send a message now. It's the regular season. Champions don't care about the regular season, postseason is where it matters. Lakers came out flat to start the game, but I'm glad they got their heads straight to start up the second half. There's no way Denver beats us in a 7 game series, just gotta stay focused. I'm sure they'll be ready when playoffs start, and that's all that matters. ChosenOne
The slump is a result of him not being 100%. What are you getting at? I am getting at that he is 100% healthy but just in a players slump. Just admit that he is not playing well because he is just not playing well it happens he is human. Dont say that his 5 turnovers and 3-17 shooting was due to him being hurt, because it wasn't.

ChosenOne
Kobe always plays hurt, I don't know that last time Kobe was healthy. If you are on the floor you are healthy, that is just a sorry excuse to cover up a bad performance.

When you watch Kobe long enough you know when something is wrong with him. As I said earlier, you can tell just by his body language there is something wrong with him. The last couple games I've noticed "laziness" in his play, and that's hard for a guy with his competitive drive. I know with the whole Shaq situation we need to make the most of the oppertunity, but I think Kobe should consider sitting out a few more games. I want him ready for the playoffs, these type of performances are going to make it really tough for us to win against the Nuggets and Cavs. Edited March 1, 2010 by Confidence

He's a fighter and loves to play all the time, he just limits his game more when injured and is a facilitator more often.

Dude if he is on the floor then he is healthy it is that simple. He also becomes more of a facilitator when everything is a brick coming out of his hands and he is in a slump. How many times do I have to say that?
Owner Real Deal Posted March 1, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted March 1, 2010 So players don't play hurt? LOL, Kobe played with a torn finger for most of this season (and it's still that way), and he played with back spasms. That didn't mean he was 100%. In fact, I believe he stated he was 80% or less, and also that it would be the best he was going to get for the rest of the season. Injured Kobe is better than no Kobe. He plays through his injuries. We've known this forever now. That doesn't make him 100%.
kingfish
If Kobe plays like this in the playoffs, we are done. On the other hand, playoff Kobe is a whole nother animal.

If he was not 100% or good enough to play at a very high level then he would not have played tonight. So you believe JR Smith's defense on a 100% Kobe Bryant would force him to shoot 3-17 from the floor? Really? And it makes sense for Bryant to shoot 9-23 against DeShawn Stevenson? Bryant dislocated a finger against Cleveland last season, first quarter, and stayed in the game. He played with back spasms this season. Most every player sits. Come on dude, do you really think Kobe would sit if he wasn't over 75% for this game? He attempted just five shots in the first half. That's not Kobe, no way. He doesn't do that, even if he's struggling. We've been watching him for almost a decade and a half, and we all should know Bryant would not pass up destroying JR Smith if he was healthy, especially after Smith's Twitter comment. Kobe missed a lot of easy shots, a few open shots, and was actually standing around much more than usual, at the top of the key. He was declining to post up in the first half, didn't really do much of it in the third, either. After having one of the worst shooting performances of his career, yet shooting one of the best season averages of his career...you'd think there was something wrong if it wasn't against a prime Bruce Bowen, Shane Battier or Raja Bell. By the way he was moving around and not even contesting a lot of Afflalo and Smith's shots, it should be a no-brainer that he should still be sitting, but we can't afford that, not in the second half of the season. Yeah, yeah...people don't want to admit it, but Bryant doesn't have trouble with the Nuggets if he's not hurt. Just three weeks ago, he scored 20 points in the first 15 minutes of the game against them, before his ankle started swelling up. He plays hurt. If he wasn't playing hurt today, there's no way on Earth he would've shot 3-17 against Smith. Not a chance. The last time he did something like this, it was against the Bobcats two games before he decided to sit out for the following five, and right after he screwed up his ankle. In previous seasons? He hasn't shot under 20% since 2004, against the Grizzlies. http://espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=241220013 We know what healthy Kobe does to them in the playoffs. It wasn't that long ago...had just one of those six games shooting under 46%. Lakers fans know better.
Multi-Billionaire
We're missing Ty in this game who I think is a huge component vs Lakers. He's the only player who changes pace and gives us the ability to refuse being dictated pace-wise. You dictated the pace of this game, and defended the half court very nicely. But with Ty, that changes. Kobe can score 40 ppg in the series against us... but There's no way you're beating us with a healthy Ty, AAA, Kenyon... circle April 8.
