La Bomba
There's been a lot of attention directed at a possible reunion between the Grizzlies and Jason Williams (and rightfully so). The Griz, however, also recently took an up-close-and-personal look at a few other reserve guard options. A group of lesser known, unemployed NBA guards visited FedExForum this week to work out for Griz brass: John Lucas III (a former Houston Rocket who played in the D-League last season), Gabe Pruitt (recently waived by the Celtics) and Mike Taylor (recently waived by the L.A. Clippers). Pruitt would seem to be the Grizzlies' best bet in this crop because of his size (6-4), efficient shooting, and abilities to defend and play both guard positions. He was hard-pressed to find time in the Celtics crowded backcourt but would satisfy the Griz need to add size, shooting and versatility on the perimeter. Lucas (6-foot) and Taylor (6-2) are smaller players who can score but appear limited beyond that. If the J-Will situation doesn't go the Grizzlies' way, don't be surprised if the club settles on one of the following veteran players: Anthony Carter, Jacque Vaughn, Brevin Knight, Luther Head, Juan Dixon, Troy Hudson or Jason Hart. http://blogs.commercialappeal.com/the_memphis_edge/2009/08/three-others-audition-for-griz.html
