In golf, you have to compete against other players that can have a random day of greatness, which is much more common in golf than it is in a 100m race where you have a pretty good idea of who is going to finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd because you know how fast they can run. thats true, but you still cant take away the greatness of phelps and bolt. they have been breaking records nonstop. woods has not broken many records. The records that Tiger Woods would have to break take years, whereas the records that Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt have to break can take a matter of seconds. It's not a good comparison with Tiger Woods involved because the other two sports are racing, and generally you know how fast someone is going to be because you don't drastically change speeds in every race, but in golf, you can have one poor day, and someone else can excel well beyond the talent they have shown, and you can lose the event.
