Haha, the typical [expletive] I here everywhere. Punished? Give me a break...

Are you American born? If not, I can understand your stance. However, it is bull[expletive] when those that have worked their asses off and defended the country have their rights taken away by those who want 'change', because they would have rather got drunk and smoked pot in high school rather than work hard and be able to provide for a family.

LOL, if you want to start personal attacks, lets go at it. Apparently your parents, who form your opinions for you, didn't teach you that communism falls under socialism as an extreme form of it. Typical mistake, they don't want to be seen as evil!

North Korea is ran by the Workers Party of Korea, a socialist party. Stalinism is a form of socialism. Stalin was an extreme ruler, so that must mean he nor his policies were not socialist.

My parents aren't socialist, so I'm not sure how they're forming my opinions for me. Both my parents are muslim, and I'm atheist. Maybe you can explain that for me.

If you want to play that game, then fascism is an extreme form of capitalism. Your point? And Stalinism is a form of communism, not socialism. There's a huge difference; as there is with capitalism and fascism.

North Korea declares themselves as socialist, but they're a dictatorship. Anybody who knows anything about the government knows that.

Edit: Yes, I was born in America. Not sure how that's relevant.

If you honestly believe that communism is the same thing as socialism, then lmfao. Come back and talk to me about politics when you start thinking for yourself.

North Korea is considered a dictatorship. They declare themselves as a socialist republic, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I wouldn't expect you to know anything about that, though.

The principles of both aren't so far off from one another.

I know that capitalism and fascism have to do with each other. I never denied that.

Stalin controlled everything = socialist. Although, he was a dictator himself! *GASP*!

I never said North Korea wasn't a dictatorship. They are. So is Cuba! Both are socialist! Wanna know why? The government owns and provides everything!

What the [expletive] does this have anything to do with socialism? In socialism you are not being punished for working hard, quite the contrary in fact. The difference is that there's a thinner gap between the rich and the poor, which does wonders for the economy.

It's also bull[expletive] watching brilliant kids not being able to attend good universities even with a full scholarship, when rich kids can get in to the best, because of their parents wealth. It's an ongoing cycle.

Why do you think you hear it everywhere? Because those who have worked hard to earn well playing jobs have to pay higher taxes to support those who prefer to slack.

And don't tell me they didn't have the opportunities most high paid people did because everyone has a chance to do well in school and make something of themselves.

Holy [expletive], I hope you're not serious.

There's more to socialism than controlling everything, which is in fact not even true. Sweden has a lot of private industries, yet they're socialist.

Stalin was not socialist, he was communist. North Korea is a dictatorship, not socialist. Just because the government has a huge role does not make them socialist in any sense.

Really, it is being punished and it has to do with socialism. My mom worked several jobs while going to school for a degree from DePaul and she was far from rich. Instead of slacking like others, she worked in school non stop and worked several jobs to pay for tuition. Why? Because she wanted to provide for a family. She didn't slack like others. In a socialist state, she would be taxed higher to help those who slacked. How is that fair to her AT ALL? Why should slackers be REWARDED? Anyone that wants to succeed can. They just have to put their priorities straight and quit slacking off.

Do you know what percentage the the 5% of highest earners in the United States pay for our taxes?

Why should people that are successful have to pay more?

It's a stupid lesson to be teaching young children.

It's like saying "Don't work hard because if you make a lot of money, you will be punished by the government, but if you don't do jack [expletive], you will be given handouts.

Because maybe people are dumbasses, as evident all over the world. Propaganda... ever heard of it?

Even with a scholarship, some kids are forced to drop out of great universities because they can't afford to travel when it comes to the time where they are forced to leave campus (winter break for example). Just because you get a full scholarship, doesn't mean that the fee of buying food is eliminated, among other things. I've seen it happen, don't tell me it doesn't.

Higher taxes... not entirely true. Depending on the country, everybody is taxed the same percentage, and that money is used to provide free universities, hospitals, and other things. No wonder Denmark/Finland are the happiest countries in the world.

Wait...you mention propaganda then say Denmark and Finland are the happiest countries in the world. Could they use propaganda to show people they are happier there? Could they be using propaganda to show the rest of the world they are the happiest? Hmm...

It was a study done by the OECD. It's not like they're the ones claiming that they are the happiest.

The thing is that people are working hard and still not getting out. Just because somebodies poor doesn't mean they aren't doing anything. The opportunities are not always there especailly when you get no breaks from the bottom and it'll continue to role that way until someone can step up and even the playing feild.

While some of the new deal policies helped during the Great Depression, it was the start of WWII that really pulled the country out of the hole it was in. After the war, Americans returned to a relatively normal lifestyle, and the government relaxed its control on some of the policies they implemented pre-war.

OldChili I'm not one to "get into it" but bro, if you're unhappy here in America, and if it isn't socialist enough for you, you should probably move bro.

Nobody said I'm not happy here, stop putting words in my mouth.

I'm just simply stating that socialism is not a bad thing by any means. If anything, it's a good system of government. If it wasn't, I doubt we would be seeing the two happiest countries in the world as socialist.

First off you are saying that. Simply by saying those are the two happiest countries in the world means something? Doesn't it? Everybody WANTS to be happy. So go there, don't act like you're happy here if you arn't.
