OldChili
First off you are saying that. Simply by saying those are the two happiest countries in the world means something? Doesn't it? Everybody WANTS to be happy. So go there, don't act like you're happy here if you arn't.Quote me where I said that I am unhappy here in America. By stating that Denmark and Finland are the happiest countries in the world, does not mean I want to move there. I'm simply proving a point. If you're not a citizen of any European countries, it's usually not a great idea to move to Europe to live. In some countries, such as Germany, they won't even sell a house to those that aren't citizens of a European country. I'm not sure how saying socialism is good system of government suddenly means I hate America and that I should move.

OldChili
I'm done arguing here. I don't mind having a good conversation, but it wouldn't hurt to know something about socialism before you start insulting it or throwing false information out there. Universe
I understand what you're saying but why should those who have been able to earn a high paying job be forced to pay higher taxes to support those people?Because it's less than a hit for them. Person making $9.00 an hour having to pay $400 bucks and month is going to have a harder time than someone making $30.00 an hour. Why do it? There really is no reason other than making a country stronger which benifits everyone in the long run.
EastCoastNiner
I know that studies have shown that Denmark, [expletive]ing Denmark for crying outload is the "happiest" country in the world, but the way they do the studies is plain stupid. Also, I would like to know why so many people WANT to come to the United States? Maybe becuase it is the "land of opportunity", and people can find happiness in this wonderful country. I don't have any numbers in front of me, but I would love to make a bet that a larger percentage of people move from Denmark to the United States than people from the United States moving to Denmark. If people in those "happy" countries are so happy, then they should stay there and no move to the United States, right?
YugoRocketsFan
Socialism isnt bad, its quite a good type of government, better than an entirely communist government, it helps everyone in the long run, and there arent as many homeless people while theres hundreds of thousands of homeless all over america. Owner Real Deal Posted August 20, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted August 20, 2009 Some people need to understand that four years of business in college doesn't measure up to 30-40 years of manual labor. One will make his six-figure paycheck every year, while the other gets $20/hr. on 40 hours a week, which adds up to less than $40,000 a year. Hard-working job, sitting in an air-conditioned office, bossing people around for the rest of your life, and more than likely earning four times more money than you deserve? Please. Try crawling under houses and working in 110-degree buildings for eight hours a day, dragging around 80-pound spools of electrical wire, or dumping five-gallon buckets of sand for hours on end, and earning just $10/hr. My father makes $24/hr. grossing $960 a week, working as a lead electrician at Spears Manufacturing, the largest plastic fitting producer in the US. He brings home $585 of it after health insurance and taxes smack him in the face. Doing the math in my head, that drops him from $24/hr. to nearly $15/hr. Thing is, he didn't get a degree. He had to drop out in the 11th grade to support his family of seven brothers and sisters. Guess that makes him a slacker who doesn't work hard, and it makes all the cooled-off, laid-back white collars hard-working and fit to be tied. EastCoastNiner
I get your point, and I understand where you are coming from, but there is a point in time where people need to realize that the people that own businesses are going to make more than the lower-claess laborers, even though the lower-class people may be doing more physically demanding labor. It's just a chain of command, plain and simple, but I understand your point.

But the times right now are not easy for the laborers or the business people and Obama is not doing much to correct that. He needs to focus on the economy and start doing it now. The Unemployment Rate is currently 9.7%?http://www.google.com/publicdata?ds=usunemployment&met=unemployment_rate&tdim=true&q=unemployment+rate It was never 9.7 when Bush was in office. You can only blame the other guy for so long, before the story gets old quick. Just look at what the Unemployment rate has done since Obamas Presidential Victory. It looks like 2 me that Obama is 2 busy focusing on being a celeberity attending sports games and trying to act. When the Unemployment rate drops back to 6% then you can say this man is doing right, until then you cant because at this point he is unproven in the white house. He has a lot of good talk but no action. Having just acquired my Bachelors in June, it seems that no one is hiring right now if they are its completely something out on left field that has nothing to do with your degree. Sometimes I feel like doing a manual labor job, but I am 2 overqualified to do it. No one is saying your dad is a slacker, I dont think anyone was trying 2. But in this country the paper proves what you are worth, I wish I could tell you differently. Heck consider a trader who has been traiding stocks for 10 years and say he doesnt have a degree. Now consider someone who has a degree but no experience. The Company will always hire the guy with the degree and will look past the experience. I do not know why this is, maybe someone else could explain it to me.

It's just a chain of command, plain and simple, but I understand your point.I realize that they do make more, and I realize that it'll always be that way...but that doesn't make it right, nor does it make it right for the hardest-working laborers to have to pay the same amount of taxes the rich do, especially given the fact that most rich people do absolutely nothing for their money, in regards to physical labor. The problem with America is that the people flaunting their wealth don't give a [expletive] about anyone working to GET THEM their wealth. Truth is, if it wasn't for laborers, none of the rich make money, and this world probably ceases to exist. So when some rich guy whines about paying a little more out of his six-figure earnings each year, he should be slapped with a pair of gloves, safety glasses, boots and a hard hat, so he knows what it's really like to work for your money, then robbed by "The Man" who is, ironically, the one complaining about taxes. If someone was ready for a resolution within Obama's first year in office, that's unfortunate. You aren't going to pull a country as massive and important as the US out of debt that quickly, and it's always darkest before the dawn. It also doesn't help that we're still spending for a war we have no reason spending for.
bigdog17k
I don't feel there is anything we can do about foreign wars. We seem to have interest in whatever it is over there, and that's why we are really there. If you've noticed we've actually sent more troops to Afghanistan and Iraq since Obama has been in office. We've also lost the most too. It's just bs. Politicians are going to be politicians, is there anything we can do? We need to vote the majority out who are there for personal gain.
