Obama Joker Poster Case

lol, OK. You obviously don't understand what Obama is doing. And don't give me the "you don't know me" bull[expletive].

You know what, fine. Your opinion is fine. That's just your preference. Nothing wrong with it. The problem I have is you thinking socialism is a bad thing in general. You might not prefer it over what the USA has now, but you can't say it's a bad thing and it's evil and whatnot.

Just look at Kairu's post. I never said it was evil btw, I said I do not prefer that type of gov.

Hmmm, funny. I must say, the Danes sure are happy for a country that according to Jefferson would have few liberties.

Happiness is relative. What works for John Doe may not work for me. Big government doesn't work for me.

I laugh at you.

That doesn't mean anything coming from an uneducated teen who thinks Obama is turning America into a socialist nation.

Most bad government has grown out of too much government.

Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have ... The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases.

-Thomas Jefferson

Coming from an American president... and if only Jefferson was around here today.

Religions are all alike - founded upon fables and mythologies.

- Thomas Jefferson

It must be true if he said it.

That's fine. It doesn't work for you, then fine. Nothing wrong with that. But it sure would work for a lot of people. The reason the Danes are so happy is that there are so few poor people, a lot of middle class, and maybe a few rich. There isn't a huge gap, like in America (used to be a lot worse). One of the reasons the Great Depression even started has to do with the lack of distribution of wealth. A few wealthy people had the majority of the money, while a lot of people were poor. The middle class wasn't that big, and that left a lot of people poor (so they were obviously unhappy). It's not just that "happiness is relative." There is a reason why Denmark is the happiest country in the world. If I remember correctly, their income tax is above 50%. That money that goes to the gov't pays for college, hospital visits, etc. They don't have to worry about not going to the college they want because they can't pay for it. That's a reason they are happy. A big middle class + few poor + few rich = majority of people happy.

Haha, wow. Just because I agree with him on politics, it doesn't mean I agree with him on religion or philosophy. What was your point posting that, exactly?

My point was that posting quotes from an American president on big government doesn't mean anything when you're trying to argue against it. It would be like me posting quotes by Marx stating the benefits of socialism and using that as my argument.

How about you move to Denmark, then? A lot of Americans don't like big government...myself included. And as long as I'm an American citizen, I'll voice my opinion and hope something will get done to stop big government.

I'm perfectly happy living here in America, I just don't like, or want, big government. You can tell how happy the Danes are until you're blue in the face, it doesn't matter to me. I don't freakin' care if it works for them, it doesn't work for me.

Do you not realize how small government was when Jefferson was president? (As opposed to today.)

Do you realize that appreciating a system of government of another country doesn't necessarily mean you want to live there? Especially considering it's insanely hard to 'migrate' to European countries.

Nobody is saying you can't oppose big government, but by trying to stop it by spreading false info isn't the best way to go about doing it.

I love how OldChili just attacks everybody, instead of listening to what others have to say. Why are you so defensive? You're the one claiming to want to have a civil discussion.

Huh? I'm not the one that calls people douche bag and tells them to shut the [expletive] up because I happen to disagree with them.

What are you doing in this thread anyway with posts that aren't even relevant (like this one) and one word posts like, "Amen."

1) Because you we're repeating yourself, over and over.

2) I agree with him. Sorry I couldn't do that.

Because pretty much all European countries aren't too fond of immigrants.

I never said Americans should prefer a big government, I'm just saying that having a big government isn't a bad thing, like you think it is. You might not prefer to have one, but don't tell me it's a bad thing. Don't give me the "how about you move there?" crap. We all know why I can't just move there. America is a lot better when it comes to immigrants, as are European countries. I'm happy in America as well. I'm not complaining about anything. And that's just a selfish point of view you have, and that's exactly why a government like Denmark's won't work here. A lot of people here mostly care about themselves, and not anyone else. As long as they are happy, then they don't care about the rest that live in poverty. In Denmark, that's not a problem, because so few people live in poverty because of the system of government they have. And for them, that works, because people there are happy with being a middle class citizen. What's better? A lot of middle class, few poor, few rich; or a lot of poor, OK middle class, and a few rich that basically control a big portion of the economy. I'm sure a government like Denmark will never work in the U.S., because I'm sure many people have your point of view, and I'm happy right now in the USA, but I think the government could be improved in that more people can become happy, like me and you. In such a developed country as the U.S., there shouldn't be so many people without health care, and so many people poor (especially in the big cities).

How does repeating myself mean I'm attacking the other person?

Nobody says you can't agree with him, but you're not adding anything to the discussion with one word posts.

We tried one thing for the last eight years, and it didn't work. Might as well try the other.

And when, or if, that doesn't work, might as well try another.

Eight pages, and not a single person (including me) has yet to post a resolution.

Therefore, I'll realize that Bush was wrong, and I'll give Obama the chance he earned.

Otherwise, I better have a method of whipping this economy back into shape, or what I say is meaningless in any debate.
