The New York Knicks are apparently very much not interested, according to New York Newsday. And they supposedly never were very interested. And the Miami Heat can't possibly want Iverson now that the team has done the Quentin Richardson(notes) trade. So now the number is down to three: The Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, and Charlotte Bobcats are all supposed possibilities, according to the Detroit Free Press. The Bobcats, of course, are run by Larry Brown, who supposedly didn't have a great relationship with Iverson when the pair were with the Philadelphia 76ers together. But that seems to be all water under the bridge to Brown, who says he'd love to have Iverson on his team again. Two small problems, which will dog Iverson with any NBA team he wants to play with this season: He wants too much money and he'll want too many playing minutes. The Bobcats already have three guards -- Raja Bell(notes), D.J. Augustin(notes) and Raymond Felton(notes) - to keep happy so bringing in Iverson seems a little bit like an unneeded tip of the apple cart. Perhaps you should try Olympiakos, Allen.---http://www.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/the-knicks-fix-1.812055/iverson-will-not-be-a-knick-1.1382819
Owner Real Deal Posted August 22, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted August 22, 2009 They say the Clippers, Grizzlies and Bobcats...but uh, Houston? Memphis did toss Jason Williams aside. Apparently, they are looking for a point...but I don't see Iverson going there because Mayo needs the ball in his hands. The Clippers already have Baron Davis and Eric Gordon. Iverson won't come off the bench, and neither will Baron, and Eric needs to start. If Charlotte doesn't bring back Felton, they can start Iverson in the backcourt with either Bell or Augustin, since AI is a combo guard...but I don't see why Houston doesn't pursue him even harder now, unless they are secretly after Sessions. The Next Knick
We have Nate Robinson/Chris Duhon, I think we're fine in the Point Guard department.
