JYD
Ok...so my 360 got the three red lights. It's happened before, I know the procedure about sending it in. As a matter of fact, I think this is the THIRD time...but I've 360 since like the first month it came out, so I can't remember. Anyway, I'm thinking about just going with a PS3. I mean, I'm sick of the bull[expletive] with this console. The third time? Really? They still haven't fixed this piece of [expletive] problem?... MY MAIN question to all of you is will gamestop take a system that is broken like this? i assume not, but i figure it's worth a shot...i just wnat to get rid of it with all the games, head set, controllers, HD cable, i figure i could get like 200 dollars with all of that stuff included and just go buy a damn ps3 get the free online and [expletive]ing play my madden. Lkr
you'll get like $50 for it from Gamestop
JWaLL
With my past experiences, it seems that Microsoft doesn't exactly "fix" but stall the red ring of death for it to occur at a much later time. The first time it happened to me, I sent it in to get fixed, got it back, and I got the lights again. I decided to not bother sending it again and just bought a new one (this happened 2 1/2 years ago), and ever since I've been fine. I think it's really just the luck of the draw with getting the right xbox. Personally I would just buy the Xbox 360 Elite. I think the Red Ring of Death is way less likely to happen on it. Don't buy a PS3.
JYD
you'll get like $50 for it from GamestopAre you sure about that? If so, screw it, I'm doing it. I'll get like 250 dollars from gamestop with all my stuff included. Then I will only need to spend another 150 dollars on some games and the system. How reliable at the PS3's, do they ever break like the 360's do? Or are they pretty good? Anyone know how they stack up. I used to be a video game expert like 3 years ago. Now, I know nothing. I just want my stuff to work fine, lol.

La Bomba
Speaking of sending the Xbox in to repair it, how long does it usually take to be sent back? I sent mine Monday or Tuesday, I think.

JYD
Yeah but lets say its 10 dollars for 8 of those games. That's 80 dollars there. Then Madden 10 and NCAA 10 that is around 50 there. So I'm up to 130 dollars. Then the 3 controllers, I'd guess around 25 dollars there. Then, the wireless network adapter, 20 dollars there. Then, the HD cable that doesn't even come iwth the system, about 10 dollars there. Then 50 bucks for the system it's like 240 dollars... That is what I expect at least, that's not what I know... Idk man, I just want something reliable. Plus, I have no clue if I am under warranty. I am sure as hell not paying a dime to send this Piece of [expletive] back to Microsoft. Owner Real Deal Posted August 22, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted August 22, 2009 Go send in your XBOX, get it fixed, then sell it to a friend that has stabbed you in the back recently. Then, buy a PS3 and take a deep breath of fresh air.

If I get 200 dollars for everything from Gamestop, to get it off my back, I don't even care, you know? I see your point though. It's more logical. I'm going to think it over. And lol Real Deal. I saw you have the PS3 how is it compared to the 360?
Lkr
If you're connected wireless with PS3, its slow as balls. Just a warning :s

Just a warning :sdo you have it??...anyone else can attest to his statement? llol......... idk man i think im just going to get rid of the thing. i just want it off my back, and something to play right away. plus, my 360 online gold membership expired, so that would've been an extra 60bucks out of my pocket for that too. Dr. Feelgood
I got the red ring of death back during winter when we were having sporadic black outs (the power would turn off and then on really quickly) and my 360 got the RROD. All I did was turn it off, wait like a minute, and then turned it back on and it worked fine. It's been good ever since. Never had to send it in or anything. Don't get a PS3, LAAAAME. Mike Hawk
Gamestop is a joke and ripoff. I remember I wanted to trade in some games and they were giving me like 75 cents for them, I was like Fudge Off.You have better luck selling your games on craigslist or Ebay. Owner Real Deal Posted August 22, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted August 22, 2009 I would never get a 360. All of my friends switched over (four of them) after every one of them ended up with at least one dead system. One came in DOA from Wal-Mart when they launched the 360 Elite systems. I find that I use my PS3 quite a bit for the blu-ray movies. Love it. I'm not much of a gamer, though...don't play online, but I just play basketball games until I get bored, haha. Altogether, I've had one PS3 overheat, and it was at launch, a 20GB. I think I played Madden and GTA4 every day for two weeks, and I literally burned the damn thing up. I sent it in to be fixed, got it back, sold it and bought me a 40GB (a new one back then), and I've had it with no problems ever since. alcstarheel
Had my PS3 since January 2007...never had a problem. I have the fat 60 gig so I have backwards compatibility. I was able to play and beat the first three Metal Gear Solids and the few PS2 games that I still have. And my wireless works perfectly. I never have any slowness problems. JYD
my local eb games said they'll give me the 50 dollars for the broken system. i know they don't give a lot of money for the trade-in on the games, but most of my games are pretty new that i have to trade in (tw 10, madden 10, and ncaa fb 10 along with some other fairly recent games.) and they are running a promotion an extra 20% when you trade in like 2 games towards a purchase of something new at the store...idk the details but the extra 20% on the trade-in's caught my eye. if i can get 200 dollars for everything, i'd be very happy and be willing to do the deal. does anyone know if a USED (gamestop refurbisehd) 40GB ps3 comes with the Wi-Fi connectivity so I can just turn it on and create a username and play online? That is the MAIN thing holding me back from the 40GB used ps3...can anyone help me there? I really don't need 80GB. I don't play video games much. I save a few madden/ncaa franchises/dynasties, roster updates, and some draft classes and that's virtually it... Anyone advise me on if the 40GB would be fine for me? I'd really like to go the cheapest route I can. I am just sick of Microsoft's 360 product. Three times breaking is enough for me, need something a little more reliable and less work...the online free is once again a huge bonus to me, even if it's a SLIGHT downgrade from 360's online. Owner Real Deal Posted August 23, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted August 23, 2009 If you can wait to get that PS3 Slim, that would be awesome. It's $300. How much would you be paying for the 40GB PS3? It's got Wi-Fi (again, that's the one I have), and I get a good connection when browsing the PS Store and getting online, but like I said, I don't play games online. What is the difference between the 80GB PS3 and 40GB? Just the size of the amount of harddrive space? If so, I can do without the 80GB...Like I said, I will not need THAT much room, 40GB sounds efficent. As for a new 40GB PS3 they list it at 300, same as the 80GB, which makes no sense to me because how could they ever sell a new 40GB when 80GB is the same price and you can get double the space! Also, What is the XBOX 360 HDD room, anyone know?

I was comparing the 80gb regular ps3 to the 40gb regular ps3.
