Lafan9
Yeah so there are a lot of choices,(yet a lot more moments that could've been added) but I just wanted to figure out which day/moment was most shocking as a Laker fan, or even an NBA fan and why. Thanks P.S-I wanted to start from show time so it wasn't left out, and sorry if I bring back any bad memories. Owner Real Deal Posted August 25, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted August 25, 2009 1) Kobe getting accused of rape.1b) Magic retiring because of HIV. Both were crazy. My jaw really dropped when that happened with Kobe, though, and more than how shocked I was to hear about Magic because I had just started watching basketball (around that time) when Magic retired. Flight
Magic has to be the most shocking, first player on a large scale to really retire from something like that that I know of, other than Lou Gehrig. It's a bummer, he was one of the most complete players in NBA history. Kobe accused of rape was shocking too, and I still think of that when I see him so I have trouble respecting him as a person (he looked like he was lying up there, I'm sorry but I don't believe him, don't necessarily believe the girl either but idk what to think), but professional athletes have a track record of being troubled people off the playing field, so it wasn't as big of a surprise. TheNextBestThing
That would be the Pau Gasol trade. Kobe's rape scandal was unexpected, but not shocking. We all knew the kind of character that Kobe had (has). The Pistons loss comes in second, but the internal feuding plagued the Lakers to no end. Watching Memphis just throw an all-star at the Lakers for nothing, however, was not short of unbelievable. I would not have seen that coming if I had a thousand guesses. Vitasoy
I wasn't born yet during the showtime era, but Pau Gasol!
