Mac Dre
Just because they're popular doesn't mean they're good at making computers. It means they're good at marketing. Yes, Macs don't crash as much. They also aren't so susceptible to being whacked by malicious software (though they are not invincible like most Mac users believe). Those are its advantages. They simply don't outweigh the disadvantages. i didnt say that just because they're popular they are good at making computers. i said that because they have an extremely popular computer program and mp3, means that they obviously are a decent to say the least, company. and if you're saying that i only like macs because they are pretty, not true, because why wouldnt i get these new colored pc's? xx.
Yeah I need to get one real soon for college too thinking Dell or Asus. Was thinking of Mac but nah, not worth the price and been happy with Windows my whole life
OldChili
Wait wait wait. Perform better? Brand name does not determine the performance In some cases, it does. Brand names should be a consideration when you're spending a thousand dollars or more. I'd want a brand that I can trust to put together a good laptop that will last. And why would you buy a computer based on how it looks? That doesn't make sense either. And the computer had a 17" screen(1920x1200), 4GB DDR2-800 ram, Core 2 Duo T6400, GeForce 9600M, and a 320GB HDD. it was $559 after rebate. Much better deal, not to mention neither the HD4650 or 9600M is any good in the first place.Well, considering you're going to be looking at your laptop every day for at least a couple of years, I wouldn't mind paying a hundred or two more for it to look nice. And to be honest, I'd never heard of a laptop with those specs for that price. Maybe if it was black Friday, but otherwise that's crazy. Considering Toshiba is charging $1,249.99 for a laptop with these specs: Intel Core 2 Duo T6570 2.1GHz2GB RAMIntel GMA 4500MHD12.1" (1280 x 800) I'm not saying you're lying, but that's a great [expletive]ing deal that doesn't come by every day. Lkr
http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Satellite-A355-S6925-16-0-Inch-Laptop/dp/B001NEJO1I It was a step up from that(1 inch bigger and vid card upgrade). Cheaper too, but it had a MIR. Point is you gotta look around for a good deal. And if you buy a Sony or a Toshiba laptop and let's say the processor dies, its not Sony or Toshiba's fault that you got a defected processor made by Intel or AMD. btw where you get the price at? Guest Nissan
Macs don't get viruses and are fast as hell... those are only 2 of many advantages they have over PCs.Why did Apple tell the people to buy an anti-virus if Mac's don't get viruses? Buy a MacBook Pro with a school discount.

Flight
Get a MacBook pro, but after August 28th, because that's when the new version Snow Leopard comes out, and it'll only cost you 10$ to upgrade. Macbook ProYeah, plus for students you get a free iTouch. You can run anything on it, so it's the best bet if you have no limits.
fly3rs18
actually... i started out with a pc... and are you just trying to start a fight? first of all, apple is probably one of the most successful companies ever for a computer company who does other things, i mean they have the most popular mp3 with an ipod, and itunes. even pc's have itunes. 2nd of all... macs almost never crash, and are hella easy to fix. the customer service is much better too. and i could care less how it looks. yeah im trying to start a fight, i fighting people through the internet. its my hobby but seriously, there is no doubt that apple is a successful company. they do great marketing which really gets people to buy. i have an ipod touch and love it. there is really no other company that comes close to competing with apple with its ipods. and itunes is a POS program. if there was a reliable alternate program i would get it in a heartbeat. but thats a different discussion. back to apple. sure they are successful but i really hate how they run the company. why do you think you cant change ipod batteries without voiding the warranty? its so apple can make more money in a few years when your battery dies. why do you think the new shuffle has special earbuds that only apple makes (as far as i know)? its so they can make money when you want to buy a new set of headphones. i could make a huge list of these things. sure apple is successful, but i absolutely hate how they handle these things. but most people just throw their money at them because of their name and their advertising. and for whoever says that macbooks are better because they cant get viruses. that is completely wrong. the only reason why they havent had many viruses in the past is because macs have a different operating system which hackers did not waste their time with. as macs become more popular more and more viruses will come around. fly3rs18
Macs don't get viruses and are fast as hell... those are only 2 of many advantages they have over PCs. your first reason is wrong as i said in my post above, and your second reason is also wrong. the mac OS does run a little smoother the vista (which i hate, cant wait till windows 7), but an equally priced PC will not be very much slower. especially if you are only using it for internet browsing. id love to hear some of you "many advantages"
KurbyFX
Checked out my school store about Macs and the free iTouch thing and it's until Sept.8. The Snow Leopard (Seems like the OS) comes out Augustin 28th? I guess I'll wait 'til it comes out and buy the upgrade + student discount and free pod. I need a new pod anyways.. [expletive]ing HUGE iPod Mini from when WAYYYY back. They weigh a few pounds lol.
