andreusito
Rubio has signed a six-year contract with Regal FC Barcelona, with a starting salary of 0.8 million. He has a buyout option each year, which is lowered after every season. So it's like:If he stays one season and wants to leave - 3 mill (random number, not the actual amount he'd have to pay)Leaving after 2 seasons - 2 mill3 seasons - 1 millEtc. JWaLL
"Minnesota is too cold" All that hype so he can be stubborn and play overseas for a lower salary, it's ridiculous how much attention the kid is still getting.
andreusito
^^^He has no money to step over. You're 18, and you know you'll get to the NBA some day. Would you spend an extra 6 million?

andreusito
Eh, I guess so. I'm just tired of hearing about his financial situation when we all know he's not going to be playing in the NBA for quite some time now.3 years MAX. I don't know what his buyout is, but I think that if it's not that high he will come next year o in 2. But 3 is maximum.
JWaLL
Well he better live up to his hype when he comes here in 3 years haha. That'd be disastrous if he turned out to be a huge bust after all the attention he got.
Dr. Feelgood
It's a shame he wont play in the NBA for at least 2 years. Was looking forward to seeing him play with the big dogs of the NBA.
andreusito
I think he's going to learn a lot in Barcelona. Wouldn't surprise me if they won both spanish league and euroleague. They have one hell of a team.
Jamesus
What's the point in even entering the NBA Draft if you're not going to play? I hate how these international guys enter and some never set foot in the country other than draft night. I think as soon as the player is drafted, they should be signed on the NBA contract and be responsible to honor the contract. It's not like Rubio is making money out the [expletive] from endorsements, oh wait he is.. Two seasons in the league, and his buy out would have been covered. I would imagine he has the money right now to cover the buy out. In my book, kids a brat. Personally, I would love it if the Minnesota Timberwolves managed to slap a big fat lawsuit on Ricky Rubio. I don't think it would ever happen, but one can dream.
andreusito
^^^Wouldn't that more be NBA's fault? Rubio is just exercising his rights.
ChosenOne
Everyone saw this coming, no surprise. I just hate how much attention this kid is getting.
Dash
No problem, Minny will be fine without him and it doesn't hurt if he improves his game over there.
J-Rat
lmao you're one of the top prospects in the world and you don't even make a million a year? He has a great agent.
andreusito
If you're 16 and you get offered to play in the best league of Europe.. Wouldn't you accept inmediately?

andreusito
He's making 10 times what he was making, but yeah, I get your point. He needed to get out od DKV desperately though.
Jenneral
What a joke. If you don't intend to play, don't enter the draft. He essentially [expletive]ed Minnesota over as they could've taken someone willing to play now, not in a few years.
Lone Wolf
What? Source: Rubio deal not done yet "Based on the information I have attained today, no team in any league has reached a deal with DKV Joventut concerning Ricky's buyout, which must be accomplished before Ricky is released from his contract with DKV Joventut," Kahn said in a statement released by the Timberwolves early Wednesday afternoon. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4423952 The media keeps getting it wrong unless Kahn, himself, speaks out. Sun Tzu
Well I guess his got 2 or so years to build up his game for the NBA. I'm sure as hell hoping he doesn't disappoint.
Lone Wolf
^That's old, based on the Marca report, but it's official already.By 1 day? What's official? I won't believe anything unless Kahn, himself, says something.

Jamesus
So hes pretty much wasted two years hes never going to get back. Those two years could have been crucial to his development. Rubio, plain and simply put, you [expletive]ed up.

andreusito
I guess you're smarter than me. DKV Juventut president just said he might head NBA because they prefer not win lose money than to upgrade a straight opponent badly.
