Penny will likely clear waivers on Monday and whoever picks him up will only owe him $100,000. The Yanks apparently are considering him for the fifth spot in the rotation that is currently filled by Sergio Mitre(notes). However, it isn't clear if Penny made some sort of deal with the Red Sox prior to his release that the 31-eear-old wouldn't sign with any American League club. Strange how much the Yankees are loving Penny right now, considering that they battered him for eight runs and 10 hits in less than five innings of work last week. ---http://www.nypost.com/seven/08282009/sports/yankees/bombers_might_turn_into_penny_savers_186905.htm
Teletopez
Maybe we should have just kept Josh Towers. But I guess I'd be willing to give Penny a shot because Mitre's sinker is rarely effective.

Cobb
I don't understand why the Yankees would be interested in him. It's not like he's going to turn in an ace or anything if he was on the Yankees.
