Owner Real Deal Posted September 7, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted September 7, 2009 Definitely not a rumor, but I'm curious...as a Sixers fan, or if you were a fan of the team, would you trade Elton Brand for Carlos Boozer right now (today)? Consider Elton's health, but also the possibility that he could return as a 20/10 player.
The Great iBoldin
I would. They had to slow things down way too much last season I felt for Brand, and it didn't facilitate well. Boozer fits into a lot more offenses then Brand, IMO.
Phightins
That's tough. Ask me again a month or two into the season. I'd like to see what a healthy Brand can do in Jordan's system before I make my decision.
The Artesticle
depends on how Brand returns this year from injury but if I had to make a decision now, then hell no. never been a fan of boozer's game. he plays absolutely no defense and seems like the lazy type. Dr. Feelgood
I would not. I think Brand will have a great season this year. I'm not much of a Boozer fan.
OldChili
Boozer plays horrid defense, but in my opinion he's one of the best post scorers in the league and a great rebounder. He's also got a good mid-range game. It all really depends on how Brand bounces back from the injury.
His Greatness
Not sure, as most should be. Brand's contract looks pretty ugly and untradeable, but if he's productive again, then no deal. Healthy, he's a much better player than Boozer. Diesel
If Brand is the player he was in LAC then I do not do the trade. If he isn't that player I do this trade seeing as how his contract is far worse and I'm not even sure if an injury riddled Brand is better than Boozer alone. All depends on the health of Brand. Sun Tzu
I'd trade him, I don't think he can return to the player he was in L.A.
Warren2ThaG
Boozer for sure, does Brand even care about winning nemore?
Owner Real Deal Posted September 8, 2009 Author Owner Report Share Posted September 8, 2009 The question is about right now, fellas. You don't have a chance to see if Brand will be that 20/10 player this upcoming season. If the Jazz offer Boozer right now, do you do it? Heir Rose
I wouldn't do it. Boozer's contract expires at the end of the season, so he could end up bolting elsewhere. Even if he were to stay, I wouldn't want his poor defense on my team. It's a little risky banking on Brand's health and if he can fit in with this offense, but if he doesn't, how will Boozer? If the Jazz offer Boozer right now, do you do it? Well I don't have the access the Sixers staff does to seeing Brand in action/practicing right now. Usually you can get a feel of where the player is at. To the fans it's a mystery. Honestly I'd probably do the trade seeing as how even with a 20/10 Brand this team isn't a contender and Boozer's contract expires first. Boozer is a solid big man. Not as good as a healthy Brand, but it's a lower risk with him.
Phightins
Eh, I'd probably say "no" if I had to decide today. Brand has way more upside. If Brand either gets hurt again or just winds up being a major bust, then it will completely suck being on the hook for both he and Sammy's contracts, but it's a risk I'd take. But then again, what do I know.
