Phightins
Well, it's obvious that nothing actually MAKES you try other things. It's in your brain, no matter what. Cigarettes aren't a gateway to chewing nicotine, and vice-versa, if you're saying that it FORCES you to do so...but because you're addicted to nicotine, you could make that decision to chew. People that smoke weed love the feeling. In fact, it helps with pain. If someone doesn't have weed, there's a bigger chance of them trying hydros than there is of me doing it, true? Therefore, it's a gateway drug, if it increases the chances of the user taking other alternative drugs, even the slightest bit. Simple question: who's more likely to pop pills: me (not a single cigarette or drink in my life) or a 10-year weed smoker? If we're being technical about it all, nothing ever forces you into anything else. It's always in your head. That's more of a psychological manipulation. With regards to the question you posed, it all depends on the individual. I'd say that the people who smoke weed to be "cool" are more likely to try other drugs than the people who smoke it occasionally to relax, or just to experiment. Those who do it to be cool or impress people are victims of peer pressure and let the bad crowd get ahold of them. That is more than likely what leads to trying harder stuff. The marijuana itself really does not mess you up. I know this is hard to prove with statistics, so all I can say is trust me from experience. If you're not wired to do those drugs, then you won't... no amount of pot will influence that. Tons of studies have already been done disproving the entire theory of gateway drugs. Owner Real Deal Posted September 10, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted September 10, 2009 Weed doesn't mess you up? So you're telling me you've smoked mass amounts to know this? Because I've been around people I can't even talk to that have lit up right in front of me.

Because I've been around people I can't even talk to that have lit up right in front of me. As I said, it all depends on the individual. I know some people who have smoked 3 times a day for years and you wouldn't know the difference, they act completely normal. I know others who sound like the person you described. By the same token (lol no pun intended..just noticed this), I know some people who have allowed weed to be a stepping stone to harder drugs, but I know far more who are mature about it and don't cave in to that peer pressure. fish7718
After I while my friends have told me, they don't even get high anymore when they smoke weed. That's what makes people wanna try other [expletive] to get the 'high' again. Mason you annoy me. Just because you smoke ciggaretes don't mean you're forced to smoke another one. You just wanna argue.

You just wanna argue. That's because they probably smoke everyday and more than once everyday. Of course your going to build a tolerance to it. That's why people get addicted to harder drugs like pills, coke, heroin or anything because they have to do more and more of it to keep getting just as high. A lot of guys I know take tolerance breaks and they say it helps a lot.

Multi-Billionaire
^Like Real said smoking weed puts your brain cells to sleep, and they wake up again, but a small amount of cells never recover or die. This means, the more you smoke it the more you keep killing your brain cells. And over time, you will be brain paralyzed permanently. But I guess it really depends on the individual, some are vulnerable, some show more resistance. But I'm convinced, even if you have only smoked only one single shot in your life, some of your brain cells are permanently gone and they don't regenerate and stay there rotten in your head. I used to do it too... all I remember is I had frickin slow response to everything. You can't think of the simplest solution. E.g. you wanna open a canned food, in a split second you know you need a can opener to open it (to normal people). It took about 10-15 minutes sometimes to figure out I needed a can opener... and sometimes I couldn't even figure it out lol. This was a probably a severe case, and I admit I probably wasn't suited to pot, some people who smoked it heavy can think just fine although, I don't think anyone can deny this, the speed of their thought process is slowed considerably. JWaLL
Let's not get into this weed argument again... I already made my point in the Random Thread haha. I drink at frats and dorm parties, but usually to the point of being either wasted or really tipsy. So that's so far been every Friday/Saturday, a few Sundays, and I think only twice during the week so far. I only smoke weed every now and then, I'm nothing close to a pot head. I will never smoke a cigarette though... that [expletive] is nasty.

JWaLL
I'm used to pot to the point that I can usually control my high when I need to. I usually just feel extremely relaxed. In the early stages I used to be paranoid like no other, but now to me it just makes women look hotter, food taste better, and everything seem funnier. YugoRocketsFan
Yeah, pot is a gateway drug. Younger people will deny it all day, but the older guys (30+) won't. I don't know if that has anything to do with denial, experience, or what...but it's true. I've talked about my uncle before on here. He started with marijuana. It was smoking pot, then selling it, then getting mixed up with others who started him in on cocaine, and he will admit that he needed something better than weed, and he found it. You even see it on television. There's nothing good about it, either way. Gateway Theory doesnt work bro, you can go from Weed to Coke, but you can also go from Alcohol to Weed, shoot you can even go from Milk to Coca Cola to Bourbon and then Weed, there is no found toxin in Weed that causes you to have a taste for Cocaine or Heroin. People use that to say that Weed is a horrible drug that kills. And yes I do both, when I was in Europe I drank 5+ beers a day and I smoke weed regularly, Ive smoked weed hundreds of times and drank alcohol hundreds of times. BTW anyone that hasnt done weed or alcohol just cant make any statements about it when you dont know anything about it. 0 people have also died from weed, while thousands of people die from ciggarettes or alcohol.
