Rodney Carney is rejoining the Sixers after just a one year hiatus. The Sixers agreed to terms with the swingman on Tuesday. Carney, the 16th overall pick in the 2006 draft, was traded to Minnesota last summer in an effort to create cap space to sign Elton Brand.

There were rumors earlier this offseason that Carney would be rejoining the Sixers. During the Orlando summer league, Sixers president Ed Stefanski said at that time there had been no communication with Carney.

During his rookie season as a Sixer, Carney battled with Willie Green for the starting shooting guard position. Carney started 35 games that year, averaging 17 minutes a night. He never shot the 3-pointer in the NBA like he had at Memphis his senior season where he shot 39 percent from behind-the-arc.
