JWaLL
It isn't very likely that the Wizards will use their MLE to sign a big man, but if they do, I see these two players as being the most likely to be signed by us. The question is, who would you prefer? Personally, I'd take Gortat. He went from literally a no name player to a solid backup for Howard in the playoffs. He was an efficient solid backup center and just downright gets the job done.
niggie
I wouldn't mind using the MLE on either of them, but I don't see neither Gortat or Gooden for as low as the MLE, especially Gortat and that's pretty much all the Wizards have to spend. I see them using their veteran's minimum on someone like Antonio McDyess. Although I wouldn't mind Varejao.
JWaLL
Wait you think Gortat will be making more than the MLE? And pleeease no Varejao I hate that guy.
niggie
Maybe not more than the MLE, but there's definitely other teams that are looking at Gortat that would easily match and outbid the Wizards for his contract.
JWaLL
Most likely, but it couldn't hurt to at least put out an offer for him. He fills in a lot of our biggest needs.
A.K.
I haven't heard Washington mentioned in the Gortat race but Gooden is possible. I don't think he's worth the full MLE though.
JWaLL
Looks like Gortat is going to go with one of the teams that offered him a large contract. New York, Indiana, Houston, etc.
