Revis Island
I was intrigued by this comparison that I saw and found on another site, so I was just curious on your thoughts and I did a lot of analyzying and a lot of thinking into this comparison for the hell of it, not that it would really matter at that end because the Pistons and Bulls will do all the work not me......So here are my analysis on the comparisons of these two teams. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ATjPNQL071M/Rigq6hJJRKI/AAAAAAAAAP0/Fx7Zx_sdFLk/s320/DetroitPistons_PL-780665.jpg09-10 Pistons Projected Starting Lineup:PG: Rodney StuckeySG: Rip HamiltonSF: Tayshaun PrincePF: Charlie VillanuevaC: Kwame Brown 6th Man: Ben Gordon Bench: Will Bynum, Ben Wallace, Jason Maxiell, Chris Wilcox, Austin Daye, Deron Washington, DaJuan Summers. http://www.onlineticketsusa.com/images/NBA/ChicagoBulls.jpg09-10 Chicago Bulls Projected Starting Lineup:PG: Derrick RoseSG: John SalmonsSF: Luol DengPF: Tyrus ThomasC: Joakim Noah. 6th Man: Kirk Hinrich (*Possible Starter) Bench: Brad Miller, James Johnson, Lindsey Hunter, Jannero Pargo, Jerome James and Taj Gibson. Analysis: I believe that the Bulls will have the better record...for now if the rosters stay this way. Why? In my opinion, the Pistons star/best player Rip Hamilton is starting to get on the decline, while the Chicago Bulls Star/Best player Derrick Rose is only going to get better from here on out, He arguably has the highest ceiling for a young prospect like him. Also, The Bulls have much much better defensive players and work horses than the Pistons do. It seems the Pistons have a bunch of slackers that just want to shoot everything on the team, Who? Ben Gordon, Charlie V, and Rip Hamilton. They seem to only want to shoot the ball and nothing more, Ironically two of the three were the newest addition of the Detroit Pistons. Bulls work-horses include Kirk Hinrich, Joakim Noah. and even Tyrus Thomas (at times), they can influence basketball games in more ways aside from just shooting and scoring. Sure, Captain Kirk can shoot, but his best attribute to help the Bulls win is defense in my opinion. Can the Pistons be better? Sure, their chemistry better work or they better make a trade sending Rip Hamilton for a package or for a better wing player. At this point, I cannot make this judgement for the Bulls since they just lost Ben Gordon and he will be replaced with a healthy Luol Deng. Ben is obviously the superior player than Luol, but he won't be as big of a loss as most people speculate. Most players in the 09 playoff run for the Bulls are still on the team execpt for Ben Gordon, so the chemistry shouldn't be a problem, what so ever. On paper, It seems like the Pistons have the better team, and I would agree with that statement. But it means squat on the court, because it's all about chemistry, team basketball, etc..... As I said it's very well possible that the Pistons finish with the better record, Maybe the chemistry will work better than everyone thought, Maybe Rodney Stuckey will develop into a star player, Tons of maybes, while it really isn't that much of a case for the Bulls, except for Luol Deng's health and returning to his 07 playoff form. So I'll go with the Bulls for now, and No I am not really a Bulls fan/homer, I once lived in Chicago so I have experience being a Bulls fan, but I am just honoring Michael Jordan for being the greatest ever. Just letting my opinions be known, let yours be known as well. [Note. I wrote this on another bball site, I just copied and paste it here]
Zolor23
Hinrich a possible starter? idk about that, but good article. I think Detroit might have a better record IF they trade for a better Center, but the roster now? Bulls
Diesel
The Bulls are way better. Derrick Rose is by far the best player on either team and is only going to become better as he takes another step further to becoming a bonafide superstar in this league. Detroit has noone like that. Detroit's new additions are players that only play on one side of the ball so their going to be taking another step back defensively. Rip Hamilton is like Ray Allen in the sense where he looks very good defensively when mixed in with a great team, but on a team with other average defensive players on the floor he won't look nearly as impressive. The Bigs for either team are not very impressive, but Chicago has much better defenders and rebounders. Chicago's backcourt blows Detroit's out of the water as well. Sun Tzu
I see the Bulls being better. Rose is going to improve a fair bit with the training his been doing in the off-season, I'd say his Rookie --> Sophmore season is going to be his biggest improvement in skill. PapaDoink
I don't like the Pistons chances with Kwame as the starting center so I'm going to go with the Bulls.
Guest pattycake
The Pistons roster has better flexibility then the Bulls. Point Guard- Rodney Stuckey, Ben Gordon, Will BynumShooting Guard- Rip Hamilton, Ben GordonSmall Forward- Tayshaun Prince, Austin Daye, Dejuan SummersPower Forward- Charlie Villanueva, Jason Maxiell, Jonas JerebkoCenter Kwame Brown, Chris Wilcox Ben Wallace Everyone starting has averaged 15+ points throughout their career except Kwame who is in there to be a defensive center. ( Who by the way is known as a good defender when he plays well) So thats 60 points from the starters on a given night, add in Ben Gordon and his possible 18 ppg thats 78 points, lets not forget Will Bynum 7 ppg in 13 min so thats 85 points on a given night between 6 players now lets say Wilcox, Brown and Maxiell Score 5 each thats 100 points not including any points from the rookies and Ben Wallace who prolly wont play on a given night Chicago Point Guard- Derrick Rose, Kirk Hinrich, Lindsey HunterShooting Guard- John Salmons, Kirk HinrichSmall Forward- Loul Deng, John Salmons, James JohnsonPower Forward- Tyrus Thomas, Joakim Noah, Taj GibsonCenter- Brad Miller, Joakim Noah, Jerome James, Aaron Gray Derek Rose, John Salmons and Loul Deng will give you 15 points, Tyrus Thomas 10 and Miller 10 thats 65 points Joakim may give you 10 points Hinrich 10 thats 85 points where is the other 15 points coming from??? Taj GIbson?? James Johnson?? Lindsey Hunter (whose 35+)?? Jerome James or Aaron Gray??? Lets say Bulls fans say Taj and James Johnson score 15 a night total then i would say Dejuan Summers and Austin Daye score 15 too... bottom line Chicago was a good basketball team with Gordon cause he stretched the court and was instant offense ( Want proof watch the Playoffs again who was the guy scoring) so now who stretches the court?? and is your clutch shooter??? Derrick is still young and not a closer yet... Bottom line the Pistons team is better, Defensively you still got Kwame ( decent center in this league) and Tayshaun and Rip Command the perimeter and a Ben Wallace can teach defense ( i.e. Tyrus Thomas, Joakim Noah, Tayshaun Prince all learned under Ben) so the defense wont be horrible. Chicago has as many defensive guys as Detroit, Joakim-Kwame (adv. Joakim), Rip-Salmons (adv. neutral figuring Rip falls off a lil), Tayshaun-Loul (adv Tayshaun) rest of the positions are filled with decent defenders so what makes Chicago so much better on defense?? Advantage - Pistons ps To prove Numbers are accurate check players stats on either ESPN or NBA.com
HornyWetPenguin
Going with the Bulls, they are much younger and only going to be improving. Pistons are past their prime, they need some younger fresh guys.
