Sun Tzu
Steve Nash, 2 MVP... how much more proof do you need? Jokes. I'd say Kobe, honestly.
magicbalala245
Kobe is the clear winner here. 4 rings, 1 MVP, most successful on and off the court then any of those on the list. Kobe repeatedly made All 1st D team in the past decade. Two scoring titles. Finals MVP with ridiculous stats. Most clutch player in this decade also. Kobe is clearly the player of this decade. I don't see Shaq, Duncan, or Dirk on TV or that many magazines like Kobe
fish7718
Duncan, did more with less. Year in and year out lead his team to the playoffs.
kingfish
Why do we start this decade [expletive] now when the decade isnt even over yet
Owner Real Deal Posted September 13, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted September 13, 2009 Haha, Duncan didn't have jack for teammates, just one of the greatest centers ever, then a top point guard, one of the best international players to play in the league, and one of the best defenders in the league during his career, along with the second best coach in the NBA over the last decade. Kobe was a big part of the dynasty, averaged 25.4 PPG through the three championships (28.5 PPG in the second one), with an average of 5.1 APG over the three, the high on the team each year. It's funny to me how people forget the impact he had, like all he did was throw the ball down low to Shaq. Not to mention he had defensive assignments of Iverson, Miller and Kidd in the Finals. And I would consider a combo of Parker and Ginobili more effective than Gasol and whoever else you want to stick in here (Odom, Fisher, Ariza, one of them). All the while, Bryant has set scoring records, three-point records, and if it wasn't for the weird-ass voting, he should have more than one MVP. It's probably a bit closer than what some will say, but it's still Kobe. Duncan is only close because he has one more MVP award, the same amount as Steve Nash. kingfish
I think the resume speaks for itself, who dominated the most over the last 10 years. Kobe has had an 81 point game, 62 in 3, 50 in 4 straight, 40 in 9 straight, also hit the most game winners in NBA history during that 10 year span, won 4 titles, only needed 1 all star along side him to do it. And other then that he also had one of the greatest seasons in NBA history (35, 5, 5, per game), and probably one of the best if not the best perimeter defender of the last 10 years. The most entertaining player, and most dominant of the last 10 years. I just dont see what Duncan has over Kobe except for an edge in awards but keep in mind who is voting for these awards and criteria they have. Kobes team also dominated Duncan teams head to head over the last 10 years, just sayin. Edited September 13, 2009 by kingfish
Big Penny
kobe, with duncan really close behind. shaq wouldnt be an option becuase he hasnt dominated for the WHOLE decade like tim dunk and kobe have. dirk isnt even in the discussion
Poe
I'd say it's between Duncan and Kobe, and IMO, it's Kobe. I mean, Kobe has made it to the Finals 6 times in 10 years! That's something we haven't seen since the Jordan era, and Kobe still has a few years to pass his prime while being in the perfect situation to earn yet another ring. BTW, kingfish, the decade IS pretty much over, actually. The decade is from '00-'09, not '00-'10 - that's 11 years.
kingfish
Decade = 00-10 You dont start a decade by saying 99-09, thats just retarded. You discuss eras such as the 80s, 90s, and now the 00's.
Big Penny
but then does that mean the 99-00 championship coutns as the 90s AND the 00s?
kingfish
YES. The Bulls were the team of the 90's, team of the decade if you will. The Lakers will be the team of the 00's with 4 titles this decade so far (most).
Multi-Billionaire
I would say Kobe.

You discuss eras such as the 80s, 90s, and now the 00's.2000 - 2010 is 11 years. I'll count them out, lol: 2000 (1 year), 2001 (2), 2002 (3), 2003 (4), 2004 (5), 2005 (6), 2006 (7), 2007 (8), 2008 (9), 2009 (10).... 2010 (11 years). A decade is a period of only ten years (duh), so if we're discussing the 00's, we're counting 2000-2009.
Multi-Billionaire
^2000 should be part of 1990s. The decade should begin from 2001-2010.
Poe
^2000 should be part of 1990s. The decade should begin from 2001-2010.Now I'm confused. If 2000 is part of the 90s, then 1990 is part of the 80s, and 1980 is part of the 70s? By your logic, LA's '00 championship is not part of the '00 era, lol. 70's era is '70-'79, 80's is '80-'89, 90's is '90-'99, 00's is '00-'09, and so on and so forth. Owner Real Deal Posted September 13, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted September 13, 2009 An NBA decade starts at 1999-2000, because the majority of the season is in 2000. So your decade is from the 2000 NBA Finals on. Ten of them. Ends in 2009. 2000-2009.
