JWaLL
http://www.otrbasketball.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=search§ion=search&do=quick_search&search_app=core&fromsearch=1 First page, don't bother looking at the second. I actually didn't mind Arenas until he started blogging about what he was going to do to teams, and how well he was going to play. It didn't help that he started dropping off the face of the Earth, then he gets injured and doesn't even exist for two seasons. It's very reminiscent to McGrady, only without the excessive trash-talking.I got an error message: One or all of your search keywords were below 4 characters or you searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please go back and increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords. I completely understand from a non-Wizards fan point of view that the "plans" Gilbert makes for upcoming games would be annoying, especially when the expectations aren't reached or exceeded. But again, that's just who he is. You either love him for that or you don't. It's just his style, it's his method of getting his confidence up for the upcoming season. I don't see him reaching top 3 point guard status in the league, because he'd have to beat out Tony Parker for that spot. But I don't see why he can't be 4th or 5th. He has already stated that he is willing to lower his scoring and increase his assists for the benefit of the team, which is very good to hear from my point of view. Gilbert never "trash-talks" really, he just has a lot of confidence in himself (to others, too much confidence in himself)

JWaLL
Oh wow, you didn't have to do that haha. But after reading those I can understand now. I just thought he was disagreeing with how people saw Kobe. But that's an understandable punishment.
Built Ford Tough
There are no "in between fans" of Gilbert, you either love him or hate him. I don't love him or hate him.
AboveLegit
If you're going to talk the talk, you better walk the walk. Otherwise, he should keep his mouth shut. We'll see how unstoppable he is when November rolls around.Wait...maybe I'm the one who has been living under a rock, but when was the last time you heard from Gilbert? When was the last time you saw him blog about his training? He deleted his twitter, he stopped blogging, just so he can keep haters happy. I could careless if the world hated him, but we all know what he brings to the court, go ahead and deny it, but the fact of the matter is when he is healthy, he is one of the most explosive guards in the league. And from what I've heard and seen, he is back to that old form. So like you said, we'll see when November rolls around, until then, keep on hating. headliner
I don't love him or hate him. I’m on the same boat as you but I’m just going to take it one step further and just say he is insignificant until he gets on the court and back up what he is saying. When he is on top of his game he is definitely an exciting player to watch.

fish7718
Hate him or love him, there's no denying the fact that if Gilbert ever gets back to his old form, he will be a top 3 PG in this league behind Paul and Williams. And for anyone who actually watched him play throughout the '06 season, they would agree that Gil was unguardable, and one of the most explosive players in the league.........................^_^............Rose > Arenas and i will refrian from naming all the other pgs that are better for lack of space
Cleveland's Finest
Maybe no one could've guarded him 4 years ago before he had the yearly injuries. RD is right too....Gil needs to play and shows he's good still before he can go on these rants. He was bound to hit them. Derek Rose is the better player.

If ALL he did was chuck up random shots, then they wouldn't have a 500 or above record while having to compensate for a "pitiful" performance like this, as you claim it to be. If Rose -- not rookie rose expierenced rose -- was on that team they might have won a championship.

Smithankyou
bottomline for me; that's just Gilbert for us, take it or leave it, he has got a bad [expletive] attitude and that's what I like about him and I just wait to see him back on court and do his move ! I miss his buzzer beaters !!
Owner Real Deal Posted September 29, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted September 29, 2009 Yeah because we really had a chance to see Rose in the Princeton offense, and not the main option. Nice try. When fully healthy, Arenas was the main option. I don't remember when he wasn't while in Washington. Rose is a real point guard. That's something Arenas will be expected to play, and there's absolutely no chance of it. Yeah, yeah, Arenas used to be an all-star. Derrick Rose will be a superstar. In ten years, looking back, it will be Arenas who wishes he was half the point guard Rose turns out to be, and I'm 110% sure of it. Gilbert is a downgrade to a young Ray Allen. Allen led teams to 50-win seasons. However, at the end of the day, if he wants to win a championship, he'll be a second or third option. Kobe, Wade, LeBron, those are superstars. Gilbert? Never was. When you have Big Ben, Sheed, Billups, Prince and Rip, pretty much five all-stars, and one of the best defensive-minded coaches in the league, you better win. A healthy Yao and Arenas would not get it done. A healthy Yao and Wade, or LeBron, or Kobe? Yes sir. And that's the difference between these players. So why can't Gilbert do the same? Don't say it's his PG size: Gilbert is every bit as big as Dwyane Wade. Yet Wade-Stevenson-Butler-Jamison-Haywood would feasibly be a Finals team. See now you're showing complete hatred. Have you even hesitated to give Arenas a chance to prove himself this year? What will you be doing if he averaged 35 a night and wins a championship? Regretting everything you once said about him. The point is, you need to stop looking at everything he did in the past, and take a glance at the new Gilbert Arenas. And there's not a shadow of a doubt in my mind that Derrick Rose will be a great point guard, much better than Arenas is right now, but you're telling me you can replace Arenas with Rose, and they will be a much better team, that is flat out erroneous. What proof do you have of this? One season? Are you kidding me? Have you had a chance to see him play in a Princeton Offense? Not only will it take him time to adapt to a new role, this is a completely different system than Memphis or Chicago, one that doesn't rely on him being a pure PG. And I know you thought Grant Hill was going to be the next Jordan, but what happened to that? Guess what, it never did occur. You're saying all this with pure confidence, which really questions you're whole viewpoint on this subject.
