Jenneral
Well we got our first win tonight! Jennings didn't look too hot though, shooting 3 for 12 from the field. That's something he's going to need to improve early on if he wants to be successful in this league.
Multi-Billionaire
Billups has missed free throws since the WCF more than he had in his previous 2-3 years... this is getting ridiculous. Melo committed 2 offensive fouls on Danhtay in a span of less than 2 mins... both appeared that he intentionally tried to hit DJ with his elbows... the second one got him in the lips... I'm telling you DJ got Nuggets testy... Remember when Jones said "Denver does me dirty"... Someone said Melo scored 50 pts through 3 quarters... is this true? I know he had 29 at half (dozed off in third quarter)....
Owner Real Deal Posted October 11, 2009 Author Owner Report Share Posted October 11, 2009 Shouldn't Billups use his leadership to calm Melo down, if he's getting testy and throwing elbows? And on a more serious note, Melo scored 45 points in 24 minutes of play, 16 points coming from free throws, against the likes of Solomon Jones and Dahntay Jones. Good for him, but what does that do for Denver, exactly? While Billups is sitting around doing jack for the team, Melo decides he's gonna drop 40+ in a preseason game? Come on. Multi-Billionaire
Cmon Real you know that answer but just throwing it around to bait this Nugget fan Like you making rules on your site, you wouldn't keep babysitting the members... Billups is not gonna police a 25-26 yr old man who is a father now forever. He's a superstar in his own right, if Melo was a role player then maybe Billups could tell him off. Melo can act how he wants to be... Billups can say "look we can't mess up"... but if Melo still messes up, it's not his fault. He's a 26 yr old man... he can punch the opposing team's coach in the first round and we are swept and it wouldn't be Billups' fault. Don't be ridiculous. lol 45 pts, 50 pts, I don't care... in fact it concerned me. It says a lot about how we needed him more than ever to score. We might depend on him too much this season for us to win... and that's not good. Why are you so negative thesedays? None of my comments above was nothing but just being excited about my own team... None of my comments above was nothing but just being excited about my own team...Actually, the first part was a joke, although you DID tell me that Billups was supposed to be keeping all of these guys in check, and turning them away from the Thuggets label, teaching them how to win and be competitive. And the second part was a serious post. I actually think it was more of Melo just hogging the ball, because you don't attempt 19 shots, and go to the line for 17 free throw attempts, in 24 minutes of play of a preseason game. No point in it, ever.
Multi-Billionaire
^"Was supposed" to keep them in check? I never said that. Billups didn't get paid to be the team's players' psychiatrist. He would set the tone, and it's up to his teammates to follow it. There's a reason why his team went to the CF for 7 straight years now. He polices your team but is not their father. And again Melo is a superstar in his own right. He got ego... and everyone knows you handle people differently, from the 12th guy to the superstar... because they have different egos. You don't talk how the company is supposed to be run to your supervisor like you talk to the janitors. What you're trying to imply or get your points across, does not make sense because it harbors negativities. What you're trying to imply or get your points across, does not make sense because it harbors negativities.Let me re-word it, then. Billups HAD SUPPOSEDLY set an example, and the Nuggets followed it. That, according to you, is why they won four more games last year, because of his leadership. I distinctly remember you telling me how Melo and the others were dressing before games. I remember you saying how Melo stopped smiling and laughing when they were losing. I remember you saying that Billups was yelling at Nene for the poor start of a game, at the beginning of the first quarter. I remember you saying it was all Billups. Now, I'd rather not have to go and dig it all up, dude. You know you said it. You know you're wrong. And aside from all that, it was still a joke...but the guilty cry loudest. Multi-Billionaire
You still take a small sample and generalize it into a big picture. That doesn't work like that. lol - Bill Gates donates his money through charities and simply gives his money away, yet despite his massive fortune, there must be other charities he missed giving to, are you going to say because of the ones he missed he is not generous? - One person lives on the motto to be helpful, so he helps an old lady cross the street. One day he is late for work and he sees an old lady trying to cross the street but he is going for work and can't help her, the lady who tries crossing the street by herself is hit by a car. Is it the person's fault not to help her? You gotta be kidding. - Kobe is a leader on your Laker team, so every game he delivers and teaches his teammates no non-sense attitude that could cost the team. Was it his fault when Ariza flagrant fouled Rudy Fernandez in Portland? Did I pop up in that Lakers game thread, blaming Kobe that the dirty play is due to his leadership? Billups making Melo and his teammates dress up because of his influence... to be mature. Did they follow him? Yes. But if they decide tomorrow to wear baggie jeans, sleeveless and collarless shirts, it's not his damn fault. You can only tell a person to be mature, and it's up to him to ignore it or take it on board. Billups tells the team to focus on every possession and to mature. I believe he is the first and only teammate to be by J.R.'s side this summer shortly after he was released from jail. To mentor him, to comfort him, etc. It's up to J.R. to really mature, or go to a night club and gun down someone. It's up to Nene to keep [expletive]ing to the refs or shut up and not give up technical foul points. If Melo goes Sprewell on Karl, choking him and suspended for one season, we do not go to playoffs, it's not bloody Billups' fault... it could be numerous factors in Melo's personal life, e.g. he got domestic with his fiancee, his dog was eaten by a croc in his lake, etc. He can only guide but not force them to follow him. But is this leadership important? Yes. As a big brother you should know this. As a big brother, I'm sure no matter how ignorant you are (which I'm sure you're not), at one point in your life, you have told your younger brother not to drink, use drugs, do unsafe sex, etc. If he ever does one of the above (just an example), are you going to let anyone tell you it's your fault? Let me answer it, noone is going to tell you it's your fault, because of the fact you've told him not to. You have given your leadership, and it's not followed. And it costs your brother (again, just an example). These posts attacking Billups or my team are getting ridiculous and personal. If you keep continuing these attacks I will leave this site. If you keep continuing these attacks I will leave this site.Thicken your skin then, buddy. Us Lakers fans deal with it every day during the season, but we don't go running elsewhere. Nobody is attacking your Nuggets. You were criticizing them before anyone else, in fact. If you can't handle it, then that's not my problem. I simply stated two things: that Melo shouldn't have acted like he was in a playoff game, and that Billups was sucking (as you stated) and JOKED about him not applying that leadership you praised SO much and making it an effective factor in the way Melo was acting towards Dahntay Jones. It pissed you off that I brought up your argument you were using against Iverson, that's all. Maybe the personal shots you were taking against Iverson were pissing others off, also...so think about that before getting butt-hurt about someone attacking Billups. La Bomba
Looking at the Grizzlies box score against the Mavericks. Demarre Carrol continues to look good. 13 points and four steals. Thabeet seems to be improving his rebounding compared to the summer league. You can say all you want about Thabeet, but the guy works his [expletive] off in practices and does all he can to improve. I'm really starting to notice it. Conley is really showing that he wants to stay in the starting lineup too. He's been playing great in the preseason. Cleveland's Finest
The Cavs beat Olympiakos pretty easily tonight. In the 1st quarter I think Kleiza and Childress scored 20 of the first 23 points in the game. Shaq had a nice alley-oop dunk from LeBron. LeBron and Shaq are showing great chemistry. Anthony Parker may have been just as big of an addition. He looks amazing.
La Bomba
Seems like whenever Thabeet gets blocks, he also gets in foul trouble. He has 3 blocks today, but also 5 fouls.

YugoRocketsFan
I think the Cavs have a great team. They have a superstar wing player, a darn good shooter (parker), Shaq whos a top center. They have a good bench, smart players, defense. This is their year. Owner Real Deal Posted October 13, 2009 Author Owner Report Share Posted October 13, 2009 im sorry RD but he has a point, you guys had an argument and its over.Right. I will definitely remember this come the regular season, by the way. When things start to warm up even the slightest bit in a topic, I'll be in there shutting everyone up and handing out suspensions, since we can't criticize a team anymore. And if you were around last season, I believe you'd realize just how bad it gets for Lakers fans...but you'll find out yourself. As far as people leaving the site goes, just because your player gets bashed? Just go already. Don't spend your time bashing Allen Iverson for a month, then cry about someone picking on one of your guys, and expect to get sympathy from me. Same with Kobe Bryant, same with any player in the league, doesn't matter who.

It pissed you off that I brought up your argument you were using against Iverson, that's all. Maybe the personal shots you were taking against Iverson were pissing others off, also...so think about that before getting butt-hurt about someone attacking Billups. You Laker fans create a "me against other teams' fans" mentality, with exception of the few like alcs and Kairu. Your irrelevancies in so many areas irate me more than me being hurt about my team being attacked (not criticized btw, I know the difference)... - You keep assuming I have nude Billups posters on my wall and masturbate every day looking at him... sure he's great for us, but doesn't mean he's my fave player. You discredit him so much, what he did for the Nuggets team with your legendary numbers, but I dare you put a poll on your beloved Laker sites (try TLN) asking this simple question "who would you have on your favorite team, if he were to be acquired for nothing, Billups or AI?" Create it now, post your fantastic numbers that AI > Billups (what have you got to lose? statistically you proved you're right, and heck you're an admin on that site...), and we'll see the poll. - Your taking a small sample and blame it on Billups is just getting to a ridiculous point. It's sad because it's coming from you, who are not known for baiting, who I assume have never been banned on any forum trolling... you're an example of quality posts and out of all forums you're posting ridiculous stuff on your site... and out of all people... it's you. You said you're joking but that post was a direct reply to my post and there's no "jk" or smiley faces... now I know you're pretty heated about me flaming AI, and I know there's upset feeling that lingers from Nuggets series... sorry if I can't read the playful nature of someone who is upset towards me. I mean, Melo having scuffles with Dahntay Jones and it's Billups' fault? That's a new heights for you. Go make another poll, since you like to take a small sample and generalize it into big picture, asking them if their favorite team would be exposed to a powerful influence of a star player, would they prefer Billups' harmless dressing up influence or AI's legendary party-til-morning influence? - Again, you wanna have this "me and other Laker fans vs. other teams' fans" mentality... OTR's motto "we're all family" is BS... because it should be "we Laker fans are all family". You're gonna keep posting and interacting with other teams' fans out of being defensive, sometimes too defensive (why Kobe is/ was hated imo), cautious... no matter it is, you put a fence between you and other posters who you assume are attacking the Lakers... and that's why the endless Laker soap opera never ends because as proven by your post above, when noone brings the Lakers, you have to bring them up out of the bottled up feeling of being victimised. Like I said, if you wanna keep bringing this up (Balkman not taking shower for weeks and making all Nuggets pass out at halftime and it's Billups' fault), I'll take that not only as an offense as a poster but also disrespect to me as a person. That's insulting my intelligence, that's looking at me as if I was 7-12 yrs old... Again, you can keep it up, you know our interaction at this point, it's not pretty to make jokes. You wanna lose that I am a Laker victim mentality and embrace other teams' fans genuinely? You wanna make me respect you again as a poster, owner, etc? If you don't bother, maybe you want me to leave, and I will do just it, let me know.
Multi-Billionaire
And those are not "personal" shots against AI... those are not my opinions, "partying, ball-hogging" are facts. And if you mean by "personal" as to attacking AI as an individual, it's never meant that way. Now that I think about it, I don't hate AI, I hate what he does (partying, ball hogging). I don't see the hype Rockets fans were talking about all summer, we're looking like a bottom feeder. Doesn't really bother me, more losses = better chance at Donatas Motiejunas.
