“I might end up with egg on my face. And if he turns out to be great, I’m not sure anybody will pat me on the back. But there’s no way I wasn’t going to try to get Allen Iverson,” Heisley said this afternoon during a talk with the Memphis Rotary Club.

“Allen Iverson will be a big asset to this team. I’m willing to put myself out on this.”

While Heisley boasts about the grandest player acquisition in franchise history, Iverson is wrapping up an eight-day Reebok promotional tour in Europe.

The 34-year-old former scoring champ continues to have a daily impact on the Griz from thousands of miles away.

Tickets sales have increased. Iverson’s No. 3 jerseys sold out in one day, but the team hasn’t stopped taking orders. Billboards befitting Iverson’s stardom are on the way.
