Poe
I edited my original post, this time adding all teams. I think it's safe to adjust my prediction before the start of the preseason. One change was moving down the Warriors and moving the Hornets up. I think the Warriors have the right tools to get to the playoffs, but just not the right system, and I think CP3 will be able to carry his team to at least the 8th seed, although I think Nash is still the best offensive PG in the game who also has a good chance at bringing his team to the playoffs. The only reason I don't think the Suns will make it is because I think Nash his team performed much better under D'Antoni's offense. I still think the Heat will wind up becoming a top 3 team in the East by the end of the season. I moved the Magic up over the Bulls because, despite the bad changes (IMO) they made during the offseason, I still think that Van Gundy's system will find its way to work out, but I still doubt it will be quite as good as before in their championship run. I also moved the Celtics down and the Cavs up. The absence of KG in the beginning and the chances of him being a step slower may hurt the Celtics a bit during the first half of the season. LeBron is good enough to make almost any team in the NBA become one of the top teams, and with the weapons he has now, I think they are going to have a fantastic season, even if Delonte doesn't play. Poe
^ That's not as ballsy of a comment as it looks. The chances of it happening aren't that bad at all. They won 46 last year. Edited September 30, 2009 by Poe
Check my Stats
I know but they will be much higher than 8th seed, they are running and gunning again, Nash will regain his MVP-like form and with Stat and J-Rich both potential 20+ guys they are set,, they also still have Barbosa. This team will regain their form and win close to 55 games IMO, barring any injuries. Nash-Jrich-Grant-Stat-Robin is a good lineup, with a 6th man candidate in Barbosa as their spark plug. I assume Robin is starting because their big man situation is still pathetic, but if they can address that this team can be close to as good as their teams when Nash was winning MVP IMO. I'm not trynna be ballsy lol, everyone has them as a borderline playoff team and they should be comfortably in the playoff picture. This team's situation is not as bad as many thought, J-Rich is being overlooked as a factor IMO, before their big 3 was Stat-Nash-Marion, now it is Stat-Nash-Jrich.... but with Robin and Grant instead Raja and whoever the other starter was (I forget lol)... realistically this team could be Tyson Chandler away from being a contender again. I think the Suns do have a chance at surprising people this year, yet with Steve Nash and Grant Hill aging, there are also chances they'll fall out of the playoffs again, especially if there is another injury. Looking back to their old winning ways, Marion > J-Rich, and Raja > Hill. Both were better defenders and Marion was better for the Suns offense cause J-Rich is better for creating his own shot. They also had versatile players like Boris Diaw and Barbosa coming off the bench. They still have Barbosa, but now they are missing depth in the big man spot, which could be even more important than having depth at the guard position. Just look at the Warriors last year with Ellis, Crawford, Maggette, Azubuike, and Belinelli, yet not too much success there. If Robin and Taylor wind up replicating their brothers talents at all, then yeah, the Suns would definitely become an elite team again, as long as their core players (Nash, J-Rich, Stoudemire) remain healthy. Sky
West1. Lakers - Best in the league.2. Spurs - RJ helps but unless Blair becomes Millsap overnight it'll be tough to get past LA.3. Nuggets - Good talent but overrated coach.4. Blazers - Provided Oden stays healthy and takes a step up.5. Mavs - Aging core.6. Jazz - Boozer and Okur in contract drives is blessing and curse at same time.7. Bugs - Okafor gives them more balance but they have to find a bench.8. Suns - If Amare holds up.9. Clips - If they stay healthy and Baron's out of the coma they have a playoff shot.10. Thunder - One year away from the playoffs, core is too young.11. Rox - Need talent to win. Four playoff games isn't a season.12. Grizz - Multiple black holes and one basketball = no playoffs13. Dubs - Randolph will emerge, but too few road wins and too little D.14. T-Pups - New coach, rookie point and no wings, another lottery trip.15. Kings - Yikes. East1. Magic - Vince can work off ball Hedo can't, deeper, but Howard has to develop post footwork.2. Cavs - Sad about Delonte, they need his speed and defense.3. Celtics - KG and his stapled knee is a shaky foundation and everything depends on it.4. Heat - Huge dropoff after big three, D-Mobile will get it done.5. Wiz - All on Hibachi.6. Hawks - Paging Josh Smith, kindly show up.7. Raps - Bosh in contract year, Hedo, but the D?8. Bulls - All about Rose.9. Sixers - Can Brand get back to 100%?10. Pistons - All that cap room for what?11. Pacers - Granger is the real thing, but he needs more help.12. Cats - Brown can right way them all he wants, not enough talent.13. Nets - Harder without Vince.14. Knicks - Don't open until summer 2010.15. Bucks - Severe talent drain. Clubhouse leader for Wall. West1: Lakers2: Mavericks3: Spurs4: Jazz5: Nuggets 6: Blazers7/8: Hornets/Suns/Rockets - Hornets had such a drop off from last year, the Suns have talent, and who knows how good Brooks and T-mac can be...will be close. Spurs3. Nuggets4. Blazers5. Mavs6. Jazz7. Hornets8. Suns I feel that Kleiza was a good piece off the bench that Nuggets lost. And health is a big issue in the East for me for Shaq and KG. Magic just seems like it would have the least problems there of the Eastern elite. I'm looking forward to seeing how Mavs will do this year though. I also like the Raptors this year.
