10 best individual statistics seasons of the last decade

K, we know the first decade of the 21st century doesn't really end until 2011. We think. But we also know there have been 10 full NBA seasons played since the phrase "Y2K" was on all of our lips (1999-2000), and here at Ball Don't Lie we've decided to use this as an offseason excuse to rank some of the best and not-so-brightest of the 10 campaigns in question. The result? Why, top 10 lists!

No, I didn't sweat it out as much as Dwyane Wade(notes) (pictured, above) did, but this was a tough one, a post that has been bandied about for a while. Best season, for a player? Best individual season? Best advancement of his cause, of his particular raison d'etre? So many options!

In the end, let's go cold. Best statistical season. Pure production. I don't care if a player's wife gave birth to triplets in the same season he was able to guest star on stage in a David Mamet production the year his team finally won a title while he averaged a career-high in rebounds per game. Don't care about the sweet story, only care about the sweet stats.

"He was on an awful team, he had no help and he was the focus of double-teams night in and night out. But so are a lot of these players, and they still manage to pile up the assists"

oh come on. even the most selfless player in the world would take a contested jumper instead of passing to kwame or smush <_<

pretty good list. i would have moved up kobe a few spaces, but its hard to say were abouts

Here's how I would rank them since I am stuck sitting here right now. Of course if I'm including the rule where a player can be used once.

1. Shaq(99-00)

2. LeBron(08-09)

3. KG

4. Duncan

5. Wade

I basically agree with the top 5 although I would switch LeBron and Shaq

6. Kobe

7. T-Mac

8. Dwight

9. Chris Paul

10. Dirk

That's how I'd round it out. Some minor changes, but relatively a similar list to the one by the author.

Kelly Dwyer is the biggest LeBron homer, and Kobe hater, I've ever seen anywhere.

With that said, LeBron did have the best statistical season. I could argue Shaq at #1, but only because the Lakers won a title.

But it's funny how far he dropped Kobe, like a sack of potatoes, while he was focused on a more intriguing sack (for him).

He used PER as the foundation for his list, by the way...if anyone is curious.

It puzzles me, though, when many say, "Yeah, he's damn right, LeBron is obviously the best," and it's those who have always thrown rocks when someone like me brings up stats in an argument, yet now they lean on stats to support theirs.

So... i am not sure where it would go because all these guys had great years on the list, but theres no way i could have a top 10 list like this and not have Jason Kidd on it. There were two seasons in a row where he was 2 rebounds away from averaging a triple double, which is an absolutely amazing statline especially for a PG.

Ah, that's a pretty good point, actually.
