Klashnekoff
Determined to make the first splash of the NBA's free-agent negotiating period early Wednesday, the Portland Trail Blazers are making a strong push to sign Hedo Turkoglu, the prized free agent of the summer. While negotiations across the league were in the early stages, a person with knowledge of the discussions said the Blazers are trying to lure Turkoglu with a deal in the $50-million range. Contracts cannot be signed until July 7, when the annual moratorium on signing and trading players is lifted. Other teams expected to make a play for Turkoglu, who earned a huge pay day by helping Orlando get to the NBA Finals, were Toronto, Detroit, and Sacramento. The Magic, who acquired Vince Carter from the Nets on the belief that they could not retain Turkoglu, are not expected to be a factor in a situation that involves Turkoglu getting $10 million a year . Bad move for Blazers, i think they should focus on their point problems..
Owner Real Deal Posted July 1, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted July 1, 2009 I keep hearing that the Blazers are going after Hinrich with a few pieces, and pursuing Hedo would be huge. But they don't really need a traditional point, either, so finding a guard won't be that difficult.
Sun Tzu
I don't think the Blazers should go after Hedo IMO. Especially giving him a 5 year contract. They have a young team and should stick with that.
Lkr
I'm not even sure if Hedo is worth $50 mil. At first I thought it was 5 years at 50 mil per year, which would be crazy. 10m per year is still a tad high for him imo.
JWaLL
Wow that's quite an offer for a player who can be pretty inconsistent.... I think he'll fit in well into their system though.

Guest Nissan
The Blazers made an official offer for Hedo... 5 years, $50M with the last year partially guaranteed for $2-mill prior to October 1. Still trying to trade for Andre Miller or Kirk Hinrich. Hinrich to the Blazers, Hamilton to the Bulls, Outlaw to the Pistons?
