MainEv3nt
The Washington Wizards say Gilbert Arenas has missed scrimmages at training camp because of a finger injury -- not because of any problems with his surgically repaired left knee. Arenas sat out a scrimmage for the second consecutive day Thursday, although he did participate in drills. He dislocated the middle finger on his left hand in a pickup game before training camp began, then aggravated it this week. Arenas had three operations on his left knee in 1 ½ years, and he missed all but two games last season. But Wizards coach Flip Saunders said the knee is not limiting Arenas at the moment, the finger is. http://www.nba.com/2009/news/10/01/arenas.scrimmage.ap/index.html
Sun Tzu
Not good. I'm hoping it doesn't end up so serious.
Built Ford Tough
And so it begins...
OldChili
Haha, when is it going to end.
niggie
I don't see it as a huge problem. The finger injury is on his off-hand, not his shooting hand and Flip Saunders stated that if he would be able to play in a game if he needed to. At least the medical staff is stating that the finger will linger throughout the season, but it doesn't seem to be a big deal. Arenas would still [expletive] on the Raptors anyday though. JWaLL
Flip was recently quoted as saying this finger injury could last the whole season. It would never keep him out of a game, but could potentially limit his game. He's been playing "ok" in the preseason, I'm enjoying watching him pass more than chuck up daring shots. Amare320
Ugh, This is the last thing i wanted to hear about Arenas, im really rooting for a healthy, productive Arenas this season.
s.t.a.t.
I wonder how this affects his blogging?
Owner Real Deal Posted October 13, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted October 13, 2009 Not on the shooting hand, right? So it shouldn't bother his shot TOO MUCH, although it will still give him some discomfort when shooting the ball. Raising an injury over your chest, then back down, multiple times...it will cause pain. But the problem actually comes into play on the drive. If he has only one hand to dribble the ball effectively, he's going to be limited in his slashing abilities, which cuts his passing down a bit. Gilbert isn't exactly one to play very well with nagging injuries, so this could be a problem in the second half of the season, as he may look to change his game according to how his hand feels...and that's not a good thing. But maybe it will heal quickly. Who knows.
AboveLegit
It probably won't fully heal, he probably will have to deal with this throughout this season. I think I recall Kobe having the same issue on his shooting hand, but I don't think it effected his game.
Check my Stats
It would be better on his shooting hand, that would mean he would primarily be shooting in close and getting his points on drives/lay-ups. Also he would probably be passing more. Also why is that kid saying he would [expletive] on the Raptors any day? Arenas is trash, you mad?
