La Bomba
I'm not a baseball fan, but I read a really good article a few weeks ago in Sports Illustrated about the Tigers so I'll be rooting for them even though I won't even watch the game. Phightins
I honestly don't care who wins, but this is about as exciting as it gets in sports. Cannot wait to watch.
Diesel
Yeah anyone who is a neutral fan should root for Detroit. That city needs it really bad. And I agree with Adrian, that story was awesome about how the city has rallied around the Tigers in these tough economic times.

fish7718
Seems like everyone I've talked to is pulling for the Twins. Twins are a model franchise in MLB. Year after year after year they put out mediocre looking rosters and make the playoffs, incredible.
BasX
As long as they beat the Yankees, I don't care.
Phightins
Relating to this game....is anybody else annoyed that this game is pushed back to Tuesday because of a week 4 NFL game? I know that Monday Night Football is a big deal, and obviously there is no way the time of that game would get adjusted, but the concept is pretty whack to me. An MLB playoff game gets put on the back burner for a relatively meaningless NFL game. I know that all of the guys on here who are NFL fans first and MLB fans 2nd (if at all) will disagree, but this bugs me a lot.

Favre's return to Lambeau. If your a Minnesota fan wouldn't you be upset if both of these were on the same night?  Imagine this were the Eagles and Phillies. A playoff game for the Phillies which decides if they get in or not. Now let's hypothetically say McNabb signed with the Cowboys this past offseason and it's his first visit to Philly as a Cowboy. It makes sense for Minnesota. Both are must see games

It's just pretty annoying that this Tigers/Twins race has been building up to a climax for the past two weeks, and now we have to wait an extra day for the tie breaker. It will be nice when there are no more multi-purpose stadiums. Also Minnesota doesn't really have control, this is all Major League Baseball. Had the Tigers won the coin toss, the game would be happening tonight. Then it would be a real dilemma for Minnesota fans haha. I understand that it was pushed back. In the end sports is a business and in business you have to maximize profit. You aren't maximizing profit have these 2 games on 1 night. Phightins
Also...(and this is completely hypothetical, obviously with the times of the year that the seasons occur, as well as the schedule and playoff structures, a situation like this would never happen)...but imagine that it was an early regular season baseball game scheduled for tonight, and the NFL needed a one game playoff that would also normally be tonight. I can guarantee you that the baseball game would get moved to accommodate the NFL game, regardless of the MLB matchup or if it was scheduled for national TV. As a baseball fan first, this annoys me. Obviously the NFL is more popular in this country, so that's how it is, but it is still annoying to me. All I was trying to say. As I pointed out, I knew that the guys like Diesel who are NFL fans first would either not care or would disagree. EastCoastNiner
I'm not really rooting for either team, but I think that the Detroit Tigers have the pitching to have a chance to beat the New York Yankees, but the Minnesota Twins are a good team as well. Not to piss off Waldo (you seem like a good kid and an exception to the Yankee fan stereotype), but as a whole I cannot stand New York Yankee fans and next to seeing the Phillies win the World Series, very little would make me happier than seeing the Yankees get knocked out in the first round. I too think that Detroit stands a better chance of doing that, which is why I am slightly rooting for them tomorrow night. Lone Wolf
No coin flip occurred. The MLB changed the rule to whoever won the season series would get to host the 163rd game. The coin flip was a huge issue last year, when the White Sox won it, even though the Twins won the season series.

SRV
This is the only baseball game I actually watched from beginning to end in the last 2 months. Both teams playing their heart out, win or go home. It was a great game, glad the Twins won.
