Cleveland's Finest
I need help... In association mode when I got to the d-league calender I click on a game, sim to it, and there's no option to play it...just an option to play or sim the NBA team's game
EastCoastNiner
The menu's in this game are the worst out of any game I have ever played, by FAR.
Cleveland's Finest
I actually like the menus though I think that it takes too long to get to certain places....too many sub menus. Btw...where is the roster that's updated with AI on the grizz etc.
La Bomba
Yeah I hated the menus they had for the draft combine. They were so annoying.
bigdog17k
Got it. First 2k basketball game I've ever really played, so I'm still getting use to the controls. I played the Lakers with Magic and kept it close until they just decided to become unstoppable in the 3rd-4th quarter.
Owner Real Deal Posted October 7, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted October 7, 2009 It's pretty difficult to make a good team (if you're in My Player mode). I guess I missed the part where you could be drafted (maybe my player was too old, haha), but I took the invite from the Lakers to go to their camp, and the damn team was set up to where I had to play two-guard. So actually, I was a 6-2 two-guard having to defend Kobe Bryant with my 50 rating (don't remember what my actual rating was, but it was around that). Sucked. Now I'm in the D-League, lol. bigdog17k
I see you can shoot using the stick or the X button for 360. Tha stick messes me up big time, cause I'm use to using it for crossing over n dribbling in the Live series. So for a while all my guys were jacking up shots from half court. Poe
I got a chance to play some today. I got drafted by the T-Wolves in the first round (28th pick). After the summer circuit, I got cut and got a chance to try out for the Heat, and got sent to the D-League after the 5th game. After a few D League games the Heat took me back and is now having me play off the bench. I don't know what the comp GM was thinking, but wtf. The stupid comp Heat GM traded JO for T-Mac without getting a replacement center. Now every time I play everybody is playing the wrong position (for example, sometimes the line up when I'm on the court is Poe - Quinn - Wade - T-Mac - Beasley). At least I have a lot of scoring options, but the defense is freaking horrible! Well, at first I was getting about 3 minutes off the bench in each game. Then they started giving me more and more minutes after getting good grades in each game, and I got to play almost the whole game against the Knicks. My 6'3'' PG that has a 60 strength rating pounded on little ol' Nate all game long. Winded up lighting him up for 27 points in 15 shots (I think I had 11 made FGs and 5 made FTs), plus I had 9 assists and 4 steals. Right now I'm still coming off the bench, but only after like 30 seconds into the game. They should just start me Edited October 7, 2009 by Poe

I noticed that raising your On Ball D is somewhat cheap for PGs, I got mine up to 85 after a few games. That should help somewhat in guarding a guy like that, lol. Even after getting your rating up, it still can be hard as hell, though. I played big minutes against the Hornets and CP3 got me with 20 points even though it felt like I was up in his grill the whole time on defense (some of his points were while I was on the bench, though, but still). If you play well, you shouldn't be stuck in the D league for too long. 3.. 4.. 5 or so games should be about it, hopefully, maybe more since I had a head start with the Draft Combine. For some reason I was still coming off the bench for my D league team before the Heat took me back. I was surprised to go back from a game to see my player wearing a Heat uniform. The Next Knick
For some weird reason I made my player, and was put on the Knicks out of all teams to play summer league. Played 6 games, and was cut before training camp. I was picked up by a D-league team, and come off the bench. I've only played one D-league game so far. I'm a 5'10 shooting guard lol, tried to make it realistic.
Owner Real Deal Posted October 7, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted October 7, 2009 If I get anything under an "A" as a grade in those games, it was only because: 1) I would accidentally hit "pass" twice when throwing to a cutter or someone rolling off a screen, and it would say "Bad call for pass."2) My teammates would suck, and I'd try and throw a pass and it gets picked off.3) I had to defend Bryant, and he would either force me into a screen, fake me out of my shoes, or just post me up. D-League games are easy, but again, my teammates play like trash, and when I can't get through a screen in time and my brain-dead teammate wants a switch, my man gets easy access to the rim, and it's suddenly my fault. Owner Real Deal Posted October 7, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted October 7, 2009 Are they actually d-league players? My first game, I made a half court game winning shot with Stephen Curry lol.Well, some are. Sun Yue was up in there. Jamal Sampson, saw him. But there are fake guys playing as well. Everyone plays like they are in the D-League, that's for sure. I dropped 27 points and 11 assists in my last game, shot 59% from the floor, and still had a "B" grade because my guys wouldn't roll out of the screen (and eventually, it told me I held the ball for too long) and because every entry pass I made into the post, it would get batted away by the post defender (since our post sucked). GamerGuy
Man, I want this bad...but I'm broke as hell. For the option where you create a player and try to get drafted and such, do you have to have the Combine mode before hand or can you do it with just 2K10? Try getting used to icon passing (RB on xbox, probably R1 on PS3). It's more accurate for getting the ball to the right guy, plus you can use icon passing to lead players to where you want them to catch the ball. It can help create spacing or lead them closer to the basket.2. Again, icon passing can help out a lot with this. Using the left stick with icon passing, you can throw the ball in a direction away from the defender.3. When your man doesn't have the ball, you can push the right stick towards the offensive player to deny the ball. This can help keep Kobe from running around the court as easily. Also, if you're having trouble guarding him when having the ball, press LB/L1 to call for a double team to hopefully get him to give up the rock. Double teams will also increase your grade slightly for some reason.
Owner Real Deal Posted October 7, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted October 7, 2009 Yeah, I've been trying icon passing. I just wish my teammates would finish now. They blow my assist. And nice tip on the double team. I had no idea it makes your grade better. Thanks. Kyle, I never bought the combine. I just use the game...I believe that's what you start out with, anyways. Poe
You have to buy the combine to be picked in a draft, or else your just a free agent getting invites to training camps... which is pretty much what happened to me, anyway. I think the real purpose of the combine was to keep some people occupied a little bit before the actual game comes out, and for 2k to make some extra money, of course.
