I'm a PG and I hardly get to play the PG position... Nice

That's what happened to me, I was a 6'2 3 point shooting point guard and most of my minutes were played at the 2 and I had to mark the other teams SG who was much taller than me. Then I decided to make a 6'7 scoring SF.

My main guy is a 6'3 pass-first PG and I hardly ever play any other position. Even now that I'm playing for the Bobcats, when Felton comes off the bench, I still remain at the point.

When my dude played for Miami, sometimes he played SG or SF when Chalmers and Quinn were in the game, both at the same time sometimes (rotations were weird then before the update, and are still weird now sometimes when Gerald is playing center for some reason). All in all, my positioning has never been a problem for my player individually, but I hear of a lot of other people having problems with height disadvantage from being subbed in bad positions.

I made a defensive 6'9 SF that I haven't used much. He plays for the Blazers, and I swear he has played every position at least once, and even the PG when trying out for Cleveland in the summer circuit. Even though he never gets any height disadvantages, he's still too weak for the C position and sometimes outsized, and his ball handling is far too poor for the point.

The rotation logic in the game is still screwed up. Sometimes you see guards in forward positions, SFs playing at C, 3 or 4 PGs in at once, etc. Not every team is coached by Don Nelson. It would be nice if this gets fixed in the next patch (are they even making another patch?).

It's sad but true. I wish EA sports made 2k10. The game had so much potential, but they blew it with all the glitches plus so many minute things that made the game much worse than it should have been. They gave us a broken game, and 2K STILL hasn't fixed it.

Out of all this, though, my biggest problem in the game is the [expletive]ing defense. Steal animations, on ball defense, and computer help defense.

I absolutely hate the steal animations. First of all, there is no way to protect the ball. All your opponent has to do is run at you, press X, and hope for a steal. 1/5 times its a steal. 7/10 times it's an animation going after the ball, and 1/10 times it's called for a reach-in foul. Man defense is about staying in front of your man, not constantly pressing x hoping for a steal plus having an extremely low chance of a foul call. The absolute WORST part of this game. Going after steals should be about timing, steal rating should not be THAT big of a part of that. Again, there NEEDS to be a way to protect the ball when dribbling.

Speaking of staying in front of your man... i mean, it's nearly impossible. I made my My Player a 99 on ball defender and offensive players still get around him with ease, no matter what I do. Whether you are holding the left trigger or not, no matter if you are using Bruce Bowen or Tracy McGrady, you have to rely on mere chance that the defender was able to stop the drive, only to find that he's been beatin on the second attempt from a random behind-the-back move of some sort. And with man defenders getting beat so easily, the help defense hardly reacts, even with the best defensive team in the league like the Celtics. Help defenders hardly react to anything really.

Also, even after the update, inside scoring is way too damn easy. When playing online or against the computer, the most successful way to win is to abuse the paint, just like it's been for a long time in video game basketball. People should have to establish an all around game, and should also be about how the defense is playing you. I wish there was more strategy to video game basketball. 2k is getting closer to that, though.

Really, 2K, it wouldn't have taken much to simply fix the defense, and to actually test this game for glitches. There are so many things about this game that COULD have been great, but no, you had to screw it up.

Sorry, I'm a little ticked off right now..

I actually like the gameplay now that ive gotten used to it. Ive somewaht learned how to stop the superstars and stop the cheesers. You just have to give Lebron some space and I use Artest so I give him space and when the online user drives with Lebron I just go right with him. But its hard sometimes becasue you have to know when to use turbo, if you do it right you can be succesful. For the most part though I just play with Kobe as a help defender, im better at that. I just stop the easy layups with my own help D and rotate to the shooters if their open.

And I actually like when guys go for steals against me. Lets say they use the PG to gamble on the inbounds pass, when they dont get it I just run right down the court with either Fisher or Farmar or Kobe if they gambled with the SG. Someone has to step in front of you since they gambled, so if nobody steps in front of me while im running down court I go straight in for a dunk or just pass to someone for a 3 or an easy score. The best and most easiest way to score in this game is dribble penetration, thats why I dont go for steals and just play solid D, and usually the guy is stupid enough with his passes that I will get my share of steals.

Now to say what I dont like, the online servers. Yeah ive won a lot of games but dont get credited wins for them. Whatever, im more about playing for fun now.

Thing is, I like to play in leagues, and most leagues have a silly on ball defense at all times rule, because their afraid of people hiding behind the defense with a center or forward and letting the computer play you instead. Thing is, I find it to be even more of a computer defense because you are now completely relying on the help defenders to be in proper positioning, which they hardly ever are and they wind up throwing 50 alleys per game.

I quit those leagues now cause I don't have time, but I still have the habit of playing on the ball D. I guess I need to quit the habit so I can play better team D. What frustrates me about online play, besides crappy servers, is that there is no way to play HoF mode. I wish there was a way to choose the level of play for better realism.

And the on ball stealing mainly goes for online my player mode, but it affects online team play too. The way most people defend in online pick up games on my player is to use high rated players and constantly try to rip you, and that's it. Same style goes for team play at times too. Although they are easy to beat if you know how to handle it, it still takes the fun away from online gameplay. Also, in pick up my player games, I haven't found a way around it yet. When your teammates are either selfish or unreliable most of the time, you want to be able to protect the ball bringing it up, but it's near impossible.

I've come to a point in My Player where I've been selected by an NBA team to play for 10 days and show them what I got, I guess. For anybody who has past this part do you stay up, or go back down to the D-league? My guy is still only like a 47 overall.

I went back down and quit shortly after. :(

I've played 27 games in the NBA. If you play well then you stay, if not then you go down.

True say, I can't help but feel a little disappointed too.

Of all my friends I'm probably the best 2k player but I got blown out by the worst of the group, because all he had to do was tap x and get a steal half the time. It got so bad that we had to make it a rule not to steal so often.

Somebody showed me an unlimited drill glitch in My Player mode.

Here's how you do it if you're wondering:

- First, you have to have at least 1 drill remaining.

- In the menu, press down on the right stick.

- Go to: My Player -> Edit Player

- Press LB twice to where you see your attributes

- From there, press down on the right stick

- Go to: Play Now -> Drills

- Play a drill, and it won't count against your remaining drills.

- Repeat this before doing every drill.

This is starting to get tiring.

I got a 10-day contract from the Pacers, and they didn't hire me despite playing really well.

Then I get sent back, and I've been in D-League for another 15 games now, getting like 13/15 A- or more and I still get nothing.

Your grade has nothing to do with what teams think of you in the game. It's about outdoing your match-up. Pause in the game and click on Performance. Win the position battle in every game, then see if you'll get back to your NBA team.

Wow I could not for the life of me resign Mike Miller in my Association in the offseason for some reason. I even offered him more than what he wanted and a starting position, but he chose to go to the Trailblazers for less money to play behind Brandon Roy... The free agent A.I is awful in this game.

I always outplay them when I'm above B, which I am. Just weird things.

Then I'm not sure what else to suggest... Just try to be on the positive side of the Battle Position meter by the end of each game.

I made an SF and I made sure that I won the battle position in every game. After training camp, my dude went straight to the team without having to play a single game in the D league.

After you win the championship, your next season freezes and you cannot play longer.

Im pretty sure you can only play 1 season on my player anyway, the 2nd always freezes and you must start over.

It didn't freeze for my PG. I played the first year with the Heat, won a championship, and the next year I signed with the Bobcats (which I completely regret since I have no shooters to pass to whatsoever). I've played around 20 games with the Bobcats without having any trouble at all. The only thing that happened to me (which I mentioned earlier in this thread), was that my dude's face completely changed, but thankfully I was able to fix it after the patch.

The only problem I'm having now is that the Insider keeps telling me that I have "an important career decision" after every game. Weird glitch they need to fix. Hopefully they will have another patch come out soon.

Another problem is I can't ever seem to finish an online pick up game that consists of more than 4 total people. The games keep unregistered before halftime.

I'm thinking about picking this up tomorrow during the usual Boxing Day Sale that they have at places like Future Shop (depending on how much it costs, don't have much money right now with car payments and Christmas and all) and I had a couple of questions. I am sure that they have already been answered earlier in this thread, but I really don't feel like reading through 17 pages of posts, lol.

1. What is the Assoociation mode, or whatever it is called, like? What kind of changes were made to it that makes it better and/or worse than last years version of the game?

2. What kind of improvements did they make to the gameplay? Give me some of the positives and negatives, if you have the time.

3. Does My Player get boringly repetitive or does it have good replay value to it? I find that some of the modes like these get too repetitive and/or easy which takes away some of the replay value and fun in them.

4. How difficult is this game on the hardest difficulty? I recently stopped playing NHL 10 (reason why I am finally thinking of picking this up, lol) because it got to the point where I was beating the computer 8-2 on the hardest difficulty with AI boosts and everything. Does 2K10 get to that point as well, or is it pretty good for always giving you a challenge when playing the AI (don't really play online much)?

I don't expect anybody to take the time to answer all of these questions, but I would appreciate the info on the game any way that I can get it.
