Nenad Kristic Close To 100%

Recommended Posts

Thunder center Nenad Krstic believes that he's nearly back to his "old self" again.

He suffered a major knee injury in December of 2006 and truly hasn't been the same player since.

"People in Oklahoma City probably don't know how highly thought of he was around the league," an Eastern Conference scout told the Oklahoman. "He was starting to really take off. If he can be that player again, he would be a steal for them."

Krstic has been limited to 46 or fewer games in each of the past three seasons after impressing many during his early years with the Nets.

"I feel like I'm my old self," Krstic said. "I'm already two years with no more injuries. My weight is getting down. I want to be 260 pounds. That's what I was before the injury. Right now, I'm at 265. My body fat percentage is down. I'm close. I feel good."

The Serbian says that his goal is to be the next Pau Gasol.

I used to be really high on Kristic and thought that he would become an above average NBA center up until that knee injury just completely put a halt to his development and even made him take a step backward as a player. Hopefully this is true and he is on his way to being the Nenad Kristic of old.

Nick Collison, Robert Swift, Etan Thomas, BJ Mullens...not going to cut it. If Krstic were to go back to his old self, it would possibly propel the Thunder into the playoffs within a year or two. With Durant, Westbrook, Green and Harden, all OKC needs are big men who can score and somewhat protect the rim.

While Swift was supposed to be this magnificent shot-blocking machine out of high school, and Collison was an All-American before double shoulder surgery, it's either Krstic's health, or Mullens' development.

I think there's hope there for Kristic, there's defiantly hope. Still a bit unsure to how good he can be, id like to see how he starts off this season before we make any presumptions on how well he can consistently perform through the season and whether he's still a player with potential to even further his growth as a player and be to a major part of this young OKC Thunder team.
