Sun Tzu
Stephon Marbury has decided not to play in the NBA this season and will instead focus on business opportunities while hoping to return in 2010-11. "I'm resting, doing what Michael Jordan did, enjoy life, do things I haven't done in 16 years, keep building my empire," Marbury said. "I wasn't going to Boston for that money. It was a prudent business decision to take off this year." Marbury also is not fond of the direction of the Knicks. "I'm just talking as a fan and New Yorker who grew up loving the Knicks: why would I give you my money to watch them?" said Marbury. "This is atrocious. Guys coming down court, just raising up 3-pointers from anywhere. The coaching is horrible. What kind of coaching is this? "If they shoot like that in the game, imagine how they shoot in practice. New Yorkers deserve better decisions form the front office and New York City has to deal with this mess." Marbury doesn't anticipate LeBron James coming to the Knicks. "LeBron isn't coming to a rebuilding team," Marbury said. "Why would he come to a rebuilding team? It makes no sense. Is this franchise built to win a championship or to make money?" http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/62157/20091016/marbury_decides_to_sit_09_10_season/
Jenneral
He makes a good point about LeBron. I don't see why everyone seems to think he's going to go to New York. He's staying put, no way he gives up having a legitimate shot at a championship every year with the Cavs to go to a losing team just to be in New York. Sorry, but it's not happening. Super Cool Beas
I don't think Lebron is leaving Cleveland either but I find it interesting that Marbury had to include that comment in his announcement that he's sitting out the season. Perhaps the only way this story would reach so many media markets? I would like the know exactly what business opportunities Steph has to explore this year? La Bomba
His career in the NBA seems just about over right now. He will probably go to Europe next year because I honestly can't see a team taking him after all the problems he has caused and he's not really a productive player anymore anyway. BeefUp
I don't see the point of this, who will want Marbury after a year away? He should just retire
