EastCoastNiner
Why can't this series end in a tie? I hate both of these teams, but I want Pedro Martinez to do well, but he just let up a HR.

At least when one of them loses we don't have to listen to their fans chirp.

The Next Knick
Hideki Matsui is playing great, now the other 8 people in our lineup need to come into play with RISP.

fish7718
You know, I've kept my mouth shut on this subject for the most part on the board, but let me spit my take before this argument starts up again. Can we stop it with the Yankees buying championships, honeslty it's a pretty sad cop out by most of you people on this board. Why don't you just give them the respect they diserve rather than hide behind that retarded cop out. Do you blame the Yankees owners for spening their revenue on players? It is the fans that create the revenue for the owners so in esence it's the fans money buying the players. However besides that, who's fault is it that players will take LESS money to sign with the Yankees than other teams, the Yankees? Get over it, it's obvious spending money to buy championships isn't the main ingredient. The funny part is the Yankees spend most of this money because they OVERPAY guys like Jeter, Posada, and Rivera, guys who wouldn't sign anywhere else however the Yankees still dish out the money because those guys deserve in their mind. Another funny thing is it Phillies fans talking about the Yankees payroll, in 2-3 years if the Phillies expect to keep the level of talent they have on their roster right now they are going to have to be a top 5 payroll in baseball, guaranteed. So if the Yankees win tonight, instead of making a retarded comment like "Way to buy another ring." Why don't you just give the fans and the team the respect they deserve for being the best team in baseball.

Smitty
Yeah for the most part the Yankee fans(except for maybe one) are pretty level headed on here. So kudos for that. But now...I gotta put up with the Yankee bandwagoners tomorrow morning...smh.
kingfish
Most teams have to grow their talent and spend their money wisely, and just getting to a world series would be a dream because of how hard they had to work to get there. For the Yankees, its spend the most money on every free agent and hope it works out, if it doesnt, just go out the next year and buy the next class of free agents. When you have the top 5 most lucrative contracts in baseball history all on one team, theres a problem. I never said they werent the best team in baseball, but they are for the most part composed of a team of greedy players, and a franchise who doesnt even need a minor league system or a budget. Just think of all the hard work the Rays had to do just to make the Series, it took them years of growing their talent and finally getting the right combination. Its not a cop out, its the truth. The Yankees dont deserve and did not earn this title. Deny it all you want, but dont tell others to change their opinions on it.

Honestly the New York Post is like 1 step up from a comic book, its a mediocre paper. The New York Times and Daily News are the real papers. The New York Post puts stuff like that in their paper so people will buy it.

Why don't you just give the fans and the team the respect they deserve for being the best team in baseball. if i was the yankees then i would spend all that money and buy players too, i dont blame them for that. but that doesnt make it right or make it fair to other teams in any way. and yes, if the phillies want to keep their core of players they will have to be a top 5 payroll team, but they aren't going to be able to do that. that is why guys like howard probably arent gonna be on the phillies for his whole career because the phils cant afford it with everyone else. the yankees on the other hand have been able to keep a guy like jeter his whole career because they can afford it. if the yankees didnt sign CC, burnett, and tex then the phillies would win the world series. even if the yankees didnt buy one of those 3 then they would not win. but instead they spend hundreds of millions of dollars to sign the best free agents. the phillies did their big spending this offseason and spent 30 million on 1 player. thats the difference, and that is why it is unfair

kingfish
Agreed. A world champion is only crowned if its not the Yankees. However they appear to win it so there is no 09 world champion. :glasses:
