Official Artest to Lakers? Thread

Recommended Posts

Where's B at, I would like his take on this. B you always said Kobe has a lot of defensive responsibilitys on this team, but if we get Ron does that mean we can be a dominant defensive team? You have the 2 best perimeter defenders in the NBA, and if Kobe wants to roam you can have Ron shut down the other teams best player. What you think of Ron replacing Trevor, B?

So listen people I have a strong feeling that the agent is trying to do damage control as the damage has been done with Ron Artest saying he has left Houston. Twitter verified his account I think news outlet are getting it confused with this twitter page

Just letting you guys know, but Artest was in Cleveland with LeBron on tuesday so don't get too excited. Ron to Cleveland has also been picking up storm. I would think that Artest would want to be that missing piece to help his team win a title, not jump on the team that just won the title.

It's not even a question: Ron Artest is a huge upgrade over Trevor Ariza. I won't even explain why. I've been talking about the positive effects Ron would bring to the triangle offense and our team on the defensive end for the last two or three seasons, hoping we'd get him. This is our chance, and we need to bust through the wall and bring him to LA immediately.

IF Ariza ends up going to Cleveland then the Lakers will resign Odom, if he is asking for to much then they will try and go for Artest. I believe they are going to try for both Odom and Ariza very strongly first before even thinking about Artest.

Shaq can have LeBron. Ron Artest says he'll take Kobe.

Artest, whose versatility and toughness have made him one of the most coveted and combustible players in the NBA, told CBSSports.com Thursday that he's signing with the Lakers.

"I'm definitely going to L.A. -- to sign, yeah," Artest said in a phone interview. "Lakers, Lakers, Lakers. I'm in L.A. right now."

Artest said he met with Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss Thursday and previously had spoken with Lakers coach Phil Jackson. He was en route to his financial manager's office, where he planned to huddle on the phone with his agent, David Bauman, to finalize details.

Artest's exuberance -- he spent the whole summer in L.A., including several appearances at Lakers home games during the NBA Finals -- got ahead of the process a bit. Other teams that made overtures for Artest -- including the Cavaliers -- have not yet been notified that Artest is signing with the Lakers. (Consider them notified.) Bauman has spoken with Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak, but parameters have not yet been agreed to. Still, it's pretty clear where Artest is going.

"I don't really care about the money," Artest said. "I'll play there for nothing. ... L.A. was very interested in me, and they got me."
