Fartman
I was doing a two month internship with Five Mag of Germany. In that time I was scheduled to do some layout for print. These are from Issue #62 which came in the mail yesterday, still waiting for 61, so I will show the ones I did there later. All of the work was then "fixed" by the head designer, so some of the fonts were not my selection ;-) Eurobasket 2009http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2520/4055562032_a792fb3639.jpg Deviant Art Link | Flickr Link Detroit Basketballhttp://farm3.static.flickr.com/2756/4055561762_cea1d15704.jpg Deviant Art Link | Flickr Link Ricky Pauldinghttp://farm3.static.flickr.com/2563/4055561500_fd8f5f6108.jpg Deviant Art Link | Flickr Link

Fartman
Looks nice. How was it working for a magazine like that? Great experience, and skill build actually. Althought not very much different from my other freelance work, since I was based at home and not at the "Headquarters". It was also fun since it's a German Magazine, the head designer is French, I am Polish and we talked in English, on top of that I have very basic knowledge of German lol. So it was all international hehe

It was changed a bit by the head designer to fit the theme and the magazine needs. I had a bit different font selection. For that Event I was asked to create a mousepad design which would be a kind of souvenir for all of the fans and a good way to give some additional advertisement to the forum. The Polish Card Collectors forum is located at Forum Kart Nba and it's open to either Polish or National collectors due to it's "abroad corner section. The design was also used by one of the members to create a flag for the event: Collectors Holding the Flag The idea was to add the interesting aspects of Nba cards to the mousepad. That's why you can see and Upper Deck Sticker with the signature "Gdansk 2009" as well as a limited New Orleans Hornets Patches on the the VII Zlot (7th Convention). All of the used cards in the design are actually from the Polish Collectors Collections
Guest N4S
How does NBA rank up there against European football in Poland?
Fartman
How does NBA rank up there against European football in Poland? Poles love football and Nba is just a minority sport. Althought we totally suck in football and our teams sell games still the people believe in it like a religion which is still insane for me. There is a wide group of nba fans, we got games in tv but still basketball doesn't get much burn, even during the Eurobasket we had this year there wasn't enought buzz in the media. Arena's were mostly filled but it's nothing close to how for instance Lithuania feels about basketball, still a long way to go but the fanbase is strong. Fartman
Ya my buddies friend from Poland is visiting and he loves Gortat. We have talent here, but development is lacking. Whenever a guy is bigger he gets to play center from the early stages of his career and we lack Point Guards and fast players since so many are signed from the US and the talents don't get any playing time. And yeah Gortat is the one actually good thing that happend for us in the Nba, won't even talk about Trybanski and Lampe...

Guest N4S
Yup. Last name Grudowski. My Grandparents lived there when they were really young and then lived in a fairly all Polish neighborhood in Philadelphia for most their life. The neighborhood is still like this. My Gpop cant speak Polish anymore but can understand it. But they were never really into their heritage and my father and Aunt were never taught the language so it really died out within the family so to say. So I'm just boring old American now. haha
