La Bomba
Veteran guard Allen Iverson participated in a full-contact practice today but he is not scheduled to play Friday when the Grizzlies host the Toronto Raptors, team officials said. Iverson, 34, is recovering from a partially torn left hamstring that caused him to miss the entire preseason and the Grizzlies’ season opener Wednesday against Detroit. The training staff refers to Iverson’s status as day-to-day, so there’s a chance he could play against the Raptors. But Griz coach Lionel Hollins said he was told that Iverson’s targeted return is Monday when the team plays at Sacramento. The Grizzlies want to make certain Iverson’s conditioning is where it needs to be in order to reduce the chances of him aggravating the injury. Iverson moved without pain while working out full speed with teammates for the first time since Oct. 4 when he suffered the injury. An MRI this morning showed that Iverson’s hamstring is healing nicely. http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2009/oct/29/iverson-practices-memphis-grizzlies-will-sit-out-f/
