La Bomba
The Memphis Grizzlies exercised contract options on guards Mike Conley and O.J. Mayo and forward Darrell Arthur this afternoon, beating an Oct. 31 deadline to extend their rookie deals. All three players are now signed through the 2010-11 season. Conley had the fourth-year team option picked up while Mayo and Arthur were extended for a third season. Arthur will miss up to four months this season following surgery to repair a partially torn pectoral. Meanwhile, the Griz aren’t likely to finalize a contract extension with forward Rudy Gay before the Saturday deadline. Negotiations between Gay’s representatives and the Griz are said to be cordial at best. Gay appears to be on pace to become a restricted free agent next summer. http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2009/oct/29/grizzlies-exercise-options-gay-mayo-and-arthur/
