Owner Real Deal Posted October 30, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted October 30, 2009 Build the greatest eight-man team you possibly can using the players below. Please read the instructions after each group. Keep in mind that I did leave a few players off, on purpose. Also, the discussion isn't about who I felt was an all-star level player and who isn't...I based it off of last season, combined with this season. Owner Real Deal Posted October 30, 2009 Author Owner Report Share Posted October 30, 2009 Battier would be a unanimous pick, so I left him out.

MainEv3nt
STARTERSC - Greg OdenPF - Dirk NowitzkiSF - Ron ArtestSG - Kobe BryantPG - Magic JohnsonBENCHSG - Manu GinobiliPF - Blake GriffinSF - Andrei KirilenkoCOACHPhil Jackson Greatest-Magic JohnsonCurrent Dominant-Kobe BryantAllstar-Dirk NowitzkiRookie-Blake GriffinDefensive Player-Greg OdenStars-Manu Ginobili, Ron ArtestProblematic-Andrei KirilenkoCoach-Phil Jackson Primary Scorer-Kobe BryantFacilitator-Magic JohnsonOffensive-Balanced with Kobe and Dirk doing them. Why I went with who I went with. Greatest-The reason I took Magic Johnson over Michael Jordan. MJ is known as one of the greatest players of all time, but you can argue that Magic Johnson is also. When you have a player like Kobe Bryant on the same time you can make up for not having MJ (even tho MJ is better). Current Dominant-It was between Kobe Bryant and LeBron James mainly for me. I feel like Kobe's leadership is better then LeBron's, and also when LeBron gets frustrated he tends to go into deep range Gilbert Arena's shooting mode, an unlike Gilbert, LeBron doesn't make them as much. All-Star-The reason I picked Dirk here (besides obviously being a Mavericks fan of course) is because on a team like this, Dirk will play his part and know his position. It's all about chemistry and I think Dirk will mesh the best (out of the players who listed) with Magic and Kobe. Rookie-I went with BG because well he was the number 1 draft pick and I think he's going to live up to it also. It was between him or Curry. Defensive-I couldn't decide who out of Greg Oden or Chris Andersen, reason I took Oden is because hes 10 yrs younger and is a better rebounder an just as good (which I think he will get better) shot blocker. Stars-Honestly, I hate the guy, but I think a healthy Manu Ginobili is better then everyone on that list. This man does it all, drive in, shoots the ball well, plays defensive, you name it. My other pick is Ron Artest is mainly for defensive for when people take MJ . Artest can also shoot the 3 pretty good also. Problematic-I would had took Tracy McGrady if he could stay healthy, but like always thats a million dollar question. Reason I took Kirilenko (even tho I really really hate this guy) his defense is still pretty damn good, an unlike the other people on this list he will know he isn't the star player on my team. Coach-Phil Jackson has all those rings for a reason. You can say he always had a powerhouse star team or not, my team is full of stars an Jackson seems to do well with it lol. Reason I think my team is best is because we have everything, we got the defensive, the scoring, the rebounding, the athleticism, and a proven winning Coach in Phil Jackson. Lemon
I wanna build a team around the Dream so here it goes. I'm kinda embarrassed that this team is pretty Laker dominant, but let's face it, if I'm gunna have the dream at PF i'm passing on KG. The Greatest Hakeem Olajuwon Current Dominant Players Kobe All-Star Level (pick one) Pau Gasol Rookies (pick one)Brandon Jennings Defender (pick one) Raja Bell Stars (pick two)Ron ArtestShaquille O'Neal Problematic: Inconsistent, Injured, or Implosive (pick one)Delonte West CoachPhil Jackson Primary Scorer KobeFacilitator The Dream STARTERSC - ShaqPF - The DreamSF - Ron ArtestSG - Kobe BryantPG - Delonte WestBENCHSG/SF - Raja BellPG/SG - Brandon JenningsPF/C - Pau Gasol COACHPhil Jackson running the triangle This is a very defensive lineup. And even though the coach isn't very defensive, with this lineup, man to man defense will still work well. With defense taken care of, the triangle will make a fluid offense while also utilizing the post for everyone in the lineup. This is the lineup I like best with the Dream. I chose Shaq because he's still very dominant in the Center Position. He can still stir up some trouble with the best of them, and if not, then I can rotate Hakeem to Center and Gasol to PF. The strong point in this lineup is Gasol is my 6th man which will cause much problems with the other team. I like my lineup because it consists of two great finesse and versatile PF/C while also having the ability to have a Dominant center. The backcourt is also pretty stacked. Everyone is a good on-ball defender who can also shoot the 3. I chose Jennings because i'm not watching many of the rookies and he seemed he has already shown he can score. Also mostly because I need a PG backup. I chose Kobe as the primary scorer because I want him to be able to get the ball in his hands whenever he has one of those 81 days. If he doesn't then the the Dream can just work the post. I chose the triangle to allow myself to not worry about getting a real PG.
kingfish
BillupsMJKobeBoozerOden Bench : David West, Baron Davis, Derozan Coach : Phil Jackson, triangle Pretty obvious why this team would win. How could they not win? Edited October 31, 2009 by kingfish
Flash
Greatest: Magic Johnson - Why not base the team around the best point guard to ever play the game? Dominant Player: LeBron James - He'd respond amazing to playing alongside Magic and that's 2 incredibly gifted passers who could make a ton of plays on the floor in a bunch of different ways. All Star: Chris Bosh: He's a 20/10 guy in today's league and playing with LeBron and Magic would only make him better. Stars: Joe Johnson and Al Jefferson - Joe Johnson is a tremendous scorer who would be a great fit with Bron and Magic and Jefferson is one of the more underrated big men in the league. Rookie: Johnny Flynn - Instant offense off the bench who has a ton of range. Defender: Greg Oden - Great backup C who could come in and lock down the paint Problem: T-Mac - When he's healthy there's no doubt he's a great player. He'd be perfect on the wing. Coach: Pat Riley - He's won with Magic before and no one motivates a team better than Riles. Lineup: PG: MagicSG: Joe JohnsonSF: LeBron JamesPF: Chris BoshC: Al Jefferson Bench:Tracy McGradyJohnny FlynnGreg Oden Primary Scorer: LeBron James Facilitator: Magic Johnson This team has both offense and defense. Pick your poison on offense. Any of the 5 can light you up on any night and they have a very solid front court with Bosh and Jefferson with Oden coming off the bench. Not to mention scoring with Flynn and T-Mac. Edited October 31, 2009 by Flash
Poe
Starters:Jason KiddTracy McGradyLeBron JamesPau GasolKareem Abdul-Jabbar Bench:Raja BellLamar OdomBlake Griffin Coach: Phil Jackson - Triangle Offense Primary Scorer: LeBron JamesFacilitator: Jason Kidd Perfect. Everyone can shoot. Everyone can post (expect maybe Bell). Everyone can defend (except T-Mac, although good team D would make him look better the way Detroit did for Rip and Boston did for Ray). Perfect fit for Phil Jackson's Triangle Offense, which has proven to work so well over the years. With only an 8 man team, I chose players with flexibility. T-Mac and Bell can play both wing positions. Pau and Griffin can play both big positions. James and Odom can play all positions. All in all, I have at least 4 players in the depth chart for every position.
Big Penny
The Greatest: Kareem Abdul-JabbarThe GOAT. great attititude, brilliant scoring, great defense, excelent conditioning, why wouldn't i want this guy on my team? Current Dominant Players: Dwight Howardreigning defensive player of the year, still polishing his offesnive skills, but with kareem on the team, he will do fine. All Star Level: Deron Williamsbig, tough PG, good scorer, defender and passer, able to run an offense well. Rookies: Tyreke Evansbright young prospect with a good career ahead of him, good size, would be a good player of the bench Defender: Chris Andersonnot the best offesnsive player, but great blocker and decent rebounder. brings alot of energy of the bench Stars: Ron Artest, Rashard Lewisthey can both shoot, 'shard has good length and creates matchup problems, ron is a lock-down defender who can score from just about anywhere. phil and kareem will keep his attitude in check. Problematic: Inconsistent, Injured, or Implosive: Tracy McGradywhen healthy, is a great scorer and, coming of the bench, you cant go wrong. Coach: Phil Jackson Primary Scorer: Kareem Facilitator: Deron Offense: Run and Gun PG. D-WillSG. Ron-RonSF. 'ShardPF. DwightC. Kareem6. T-Mac7. Tyreke8. Birdman ^_^ ^_^ Edited November 1, 2009 by Lakerzboy
