Rafael Palmeiro won the gold glove for 1B a couple years ago despite being a DH for 145 games and only playing about 10 games at first. He is a damn good second baseman but I'd have thought that him getting benched for the last part of the regular season would have hurt him. Is that what they are? Yeah, it's supposed to be the best defensive guy at each position. Doesn't necessarily mean errors, though. Some guys (like Derek Jeter) don't make a whole lot of errors because they just don't have the range to get to a lot of balls, and have a chance to make an error on it.
