That bested a previous single-day boxoffice mark of $67.2 million, set by Warner Bros.’ Batman sequel “The Dark Knight” in July 2008.The first-day tally for “New Moon” included $26.3 million in boxoffice from a total 3,514 performances at12:01 a.m. Friday, which set a record for witching-hour coin. Consensus pre-release forecasts put the likely first-weekend tally for “New Moon” at $85 million-plus. Not even a meteoric burnout on Saturday and Sunday would keep the largely female-fueled film from soaring well past those projections. “Dark Knight” holds the record for the biggest opening ever, at $158.4 million. BasX Posted November 22, 2009 Report Share Posted November 22, 2009 Facebook has blown up with a variation of "NEW MOOOONNN <3" or "EDDDWARRRDDDD" or "LAUTNER IS SOOO HOOTT" I don't want to be the [expletive] to say the movie [expletive]in sucks, and I saw the first one. I skipped through the lame dialogue by the main characters. After I skipped that, felt like a 30 minute movie. [expletive]in disgraceful. The only positive is learning about Anna Kendrick and making me want to see Up in the Air more now. However, I dont not want to give Twilight that credit. The action was alright, though...wolves and all that, but the other movie had much more fighting in it, and that's really all I liked. And every single time Jacob (Lautner) shows up, he's missing his shirt. It's stupid. The first time he took his shirt off, every damn female in the theater was like, "Oh, WOW!" So annoying.
