The Montreal Canadiens have traded power forward Guillaume Latendresse to the Minnesota Wild for forward Benoit Pouliot.

Latendresse, 22, has scored two goals and recorded one assist so far this season.

The forward who was drafted in the second round, 45th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, has recorded 48 goals and 37 assists in 232 career NHL games.

Pouliot, 23, has two goals and two assists in 14 games with the Wild this season. In 65 career NHL games, the fourth selection in the 2005 draft has nine goals and nine assists.

Pouliot is presently out of the lineup with an upper-body injury, last playing on Nov. 13.

Lol, this trade has the #4 pick in the 05 draft being traded for the #45 pick of the same draft. Just thought that was kind of funny.

On the actual trade itself though, this is defintiely a good move on the Habs part. It may just be because I have never been a fan of Latendresse and although Pouliot has struggled to start off his NHL career, he is somebody who could be an impact player if he develops and reaches his full potential.

Even if Pouliot doesn't pan out, its not like Latendresse was doing much of anything. At worst this is a sideways move. Two players who needed a change of scenery.
