CaptainGreenGanja
Yea, if you ask me, Kimbo doesn't even deserve a UFC fight. White said he had to win TUF to get a fight and he's far from doing so.
Dr. Feelgood
I think it's pretty cool that Kimbo, once a street fighter, is really trying to get into the UFC. Sure he's a slow power hitter but I imagine if he trained enough and hard enough, he would be a decent fighter. Not a great one though. I mean, if he lost to Seth Petsurelli (or whatever), he's definitely got a loooong way to go.
La Bomba
Did this get announced a long time ago? I just found it out today after the show.
Built Ford Tough
Did this get announced a long time ago? I just found it out today after the show. Yeah it was. I've known about it for around a month. I didn't want to mention anything in case some people were still holding out hope that Kimbo would get another TUF fight and didn't want to spoil it. They are fighting at a catchweight of 215 pounds which I like because I just don't think that Kimbo has the size to fight at HW. Don't get me wrong, I don't think that he will ever be anything special, but if he can improve his ground game and tighten up his stand up, he could be a decent mid card fighter at LHW (assuming he doesn't look like [expletive] at 215 lol) that the UFC could use on free Ultimate Fight night cards or throw on a weaker PPV card to help boost buy-rates. The UFC are really trying to give Kimbo the best chance possible to come out with a victory, without giving him a "gimme fight", on this one though. Houston Alexander is a powerfull striker, but he has a suspect chin and absolutely no ground game at all. I am sure that Joe Silva looked at fighters that would not even think about taking this fight to the ground and somebody that would stand and bang with Kimbo. I can't really think of a better fighter than Houston Alexander for that. If you are a fan of slug fests, I imagine that you will love this fight. I would be completely shocked if somebody didn't get knocked out in this one (probably Kimbo). Yea, if you ask me, Kimbo doesn't even deserve a UFC fight. White said he had to win TUF to get a fight and he's far from doing so. Don't tell me that you actually believed that crap Dana was spewing out of his [expletive] after Kimbo lost to Petruzelli. If you thought that Kimbo wouldn't fight at the finale, win or lose, I almost feel sorry for you. After how much they hyped TUF 10, or "The Kimbo Show", did you not think that they would milk Kimbo for every single penny? I mean you can't blame them, the UFC is a business and Kimbo is a huge money maker. They would be fools not to milk him for every cent. I'm actually really looking forward to seeing Marcus Jones fight again. That guy has some sick jitz and looks like he has a lot of potential. I am looking forward to seeing how much he has improved on his stand up and other areas of his game since the show is over. He was probably my favourite fighter this season (not like there was much to choose from lol) and I hope to see an improved fighter. He was one of the few guys this season that looked like they have some actual potential as fighters (Schaub being the other). Nelson is already a good fighter, but I don't think that he will get any better and as he is right now, he will be nothing more than a gatekeeper in the Heavyweight division. Also so stoked on seeing Jon "Bones" Jones fight. He is a very entertaining, unorthodox fighter. If you haven't watched him fight before, you are in for a treat, especially if this fight is anything like his fight with Stephan Bonnar. Should be a pretty good Ultimate Finale card. Harvester Of Sorrow
dana has been known to be full of [expletive] for ages. the whole kimbo never in ufc unless he did tuf was to cover his own [expletive] for saying it wouldnt happen. same thing is going to happen when fedor shows up, dana said hes overrated and sucks, but when he shows up, he will say hes the best and so excited to see him in ufc. but houston, could be good, both drop bombs and both have glass chins. id give it to kimbo if they both stand, but if houston attacks the knee, kimbo is done. Owner Real Deal Posted December 6, 2009 Owner Report Share Posted December 6, 2009 Wow, so Kimbo improved his ground game significantly! Man, I'm sorry, but I was pulling for him big time. I wanted him to destroy Houston Alexander, especially after watching Houston dance around the octagon for a good three minutes...really pissed me off. Leg kick, leg kick, leg kick...and nothing more. Alexander looked scared. Kimbo needs surgery to repair those knees, though. He found himself in trouble during that third round, when that sweep (a sweep, not exactly a leg kick that did damage) took him down. Fix those knees, and Kimbo could be a very dangerous man. I thought Houston was out on his feet the entire time in the third round...dude was wobbling and barely conscious after Kimbo gave him those shots in the second. Harvester Of Sorrow
houston came out of the gate ready to do nothing. he was so timid. what happened to the bomb thrower who knocked out keith 4 times before the ref stopped the fight. never seen someone so scared of someone, houston has way more experience and im sure more training, but he just wanted to walk backwards. La Bomba
Wow, after watching last night's card, Jon Jones may have become my favorite fighter. He may of gotten disqualified (unfairly IMO), but he is exciting as hell to watch. Dominating Hamil, a great wrestler like he did on the ground is no easy feat. He would of won the fight before those two elbows, but he still got the loss. That guy is going to be good, only 22 years old. EDIT: Classy way to take a loss too. Imagine if that happened to a guy like Lesnar or Penn. Edited December 6, 2009 by La Bomba
Built Ford Tough
Should be a pretty good Ultimate Finale card. I take this back. I really regret not going out last night so that I could stay home and watch this card. Marcus Jones looked like he didn't work on his stand up for one second since the show ended (July 9th I believe). He was just as robotic and stiff in his stand up as he was on the show. He looked like a mummy or Frankenstein walking forward with his hands held out akwardly in front of him as he tried to clinch with Mitrione. He did a great job of getting Mitrione to the ground and he has a very good ground game, but man his striking is just attrocious. He looks like he has Andrei Arlovski syndrome as well, or in other words, a glass jaw as he gets put out from any flush shot it seems and with his style of fighting, you have to be able to absorb some blows because you are definitely going to get hit if you are constantly going in for a clinch. I think that the UFC might have convinced him to come back to fight on the Finale show though. After his last fight in the house he didn't seem to stoked on fighting anymore, and with the performance that he gave I wonder if he is done with fightng all together. Kimbo fight was just a snooze fest. The 2nd round was good as Kimbo showed a real improvement on the ground, although it was against Houston Alexander who has no ground game either, but any improvement from Kimbo is nice to see regardless of who he was fighting. Alexander looked to be scared of Kimbo's power, but I do have to admit that it was a smart move on his behalf to not get into a slug fest with Kimbo. Alexander had the superior all around skills and if he would've actually committed to the leg kicks throughout the fight, he would've done a lot better as he would've weakened Kimbo and took away his power, but instead he was pretty much playing footsies with him the entire fight. It seemed like he was scared to commit though because of Kimbo's power, which is understandable considering he has a glass jaw. That third round was absolutely terrible though. Both fighters were completely gassed and couldn't do anything. I couldn't care less about the McSweeny and Schoonover fight. Schoonover was going back to active duty after the fight no matter what and James McSweeny has no future at heavyweight. That was a bathroom break fight if I have ever saw one. Frankie Edgar looked good though. When Maynard gets by Nate Diaz (I hope he doesn't but I can see him smother Diaz to a UD) they should have Edgar fight Maynard to determine the next number one contender at 155. The Jones-Hamill fight showed that Jon "Bones" Jones is for real. Yeah, he got a DQ loss but the fact of the matter is that he dominated that fight from start to finish and if anybody thinks that the 12-6 elbows actually played a factor in that fight getting stopped is fooling theirselves. That fight could've easily been stopped 20 seconds earlier. Hamill's shoulder injury obviously played a part in it, but Jones looked amazing in that fight. He is a future stud at 205 if you ask me. Lastly, the Nelson-Schaub fight went exactly as I expected it to. Well, I actually expected Nelson to either sub him or GNP him out, but he dominated the younger Schaub like I expected. That was a nasty one punch KO as well. I was 99% sure that Nelson would win the contract was I saw his name on the cast because he was clearly head and shoulders above the rest of the fighters, and he showed that last night. Him coming out to Weird Al's "I'm Fat" was absolutely gold. All in all, it was a pretty dissapointing card if you ask me. I was expecting a lot better. Oh well, at least we have Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell as coaches next season, and I have heard that David "The Crow" Louiseau will be on the show as well, which should be nice as he was one of my favourite fighters when I was first getting into MMA. HornyWetPenguin
Yeah man kimbo definetly improved his ground game. He gotta fix up his kness though. Is it just me or did it seem like he had chicken legs? Since his upper body was so big his legs were kinda small. If he packed on muscle, maybe they would be less injury prone? That takedown in r2 was nasty. Alexander didn't do [expletive] all figh.
Guest N4S
Kimbo would get decimated(if that is true) lol The fight only sucks because Alexander ran the whole time.
