Heat willing to trade James Jones

According to an NBA executive, the Heat said it's open to offers for James Jones -- who has a good chance to be bought out next summer. Because of Quentin Richardson's back injury, Jones started Friday's game.

But Jones played in just three of the Heat's first 10 games because coach Erik Spoelstra likes splitting small forward minutes between Richardson and starting power forward Michael Beasley. And Spoelstra often has used Dorell Wright instead of Jones because Wright is the better ball-handler and defender.

Good news, IMO. Hopefully this will give more room for Dorell to gain playing time and develop. I wonder what the Heat can get out of him. Draft picks, maybe?

You know, ever since we had James Jones, I've sort of missed the guy. He was great for us, made shots for us when we needed them. But we've got Rudy and Batum now.

Hopefully Jones finds a team that can use him.

It's the same situation in Miami. He's a great shooter and plays good team D, yet the Heat have Q-Rich and Dorell. All three are deserving of playing time, so it's best to let one go and get some sort of value that the Heat could use more.
